Sipping on a little piece of history at Cafe Majestic in @VisitPorto, Portugal ☕️🇵🇹 The beautiful Art Nouveau/Belle Époque decor and friendly staff make for a cozy and inviting atmosphere. If these walls could talk, they’d whisper tales of poets, thinkers, and dreamers who found inspiration in every steaming cup. It is one of the few spots where you can get a good cup of tea which is sad because tea was originally introduced to Portuguese priests and merchants in China around the 16th century. They then introduced it to Europe, including Portugal and its colonies of Brazil and Mozambique. The word “chá” in Portuguese originates from the Mandarin word for “harvest”. Mr. Misadventures loves his tea and @majestic_cafe serves a proper cup! Their coffee is great too. If you ever find yourself in Porto, this is a must-visit spot for any Francophile. 🇵🇹✨ Celebrating 50 years of freedom from Porto! Standing here, with the vibrant tapestry of this beautiful city unfurling behind me, it’s impossible not to feel the pulse of history that this day commemorates. April 25th isn’t just another date on the calendar in Portugal—it marks the Carnation Revolution, an event that ended nearly five decades of dictatorship in a flourish of peace, not violence, with soldiers wielding flowers instead of weapons. (The carnation also happens to be my favorite flower, although it is used for funerals in France, so my hubby isn’t a fan 😜, and the flower is for people born in January, like me!) It is a bit chilly in the mornings so I have been so happy that I brought my cashmere sweaters from @OneQuince. I have been layering my Mongolian cashmere tee with the cardigan and then my super light @stio Skycrest insulated snap shirt. When it is warmer in the afternoon, I start shedding! Throwback from last week when I was still in Braga. I have been to Porto 3 times. We are spending 2 weeks here and wanted to get a good sense of what @visitporto has to offer. After an epic 8-hour walking tour of Porto (with Balades à Porto), every step and story shared by our incredible guide (Jorge) made the city’s soul unfold before our eyes. 🚶‍♀️✨ From the jaw-dropping beauty of the Stock Exchange Palace (Palacio da Bolsa) IN THIS PHOTO to the iconic Livraria Lello bookstore that seems straight out of a wizarding world. 📚✨ We wandered through the stunning São Bento Train Station, admired the unique double church of Carmo & Carmelitas, and gazed up at the imposing Torre dos Clérigos. When in France I try to eat as much duck as possible. Magret de canard, confit de canard, rillette de canard, count me in for all things quack-tastic! 🍽️ We are in Paris for a weekend getaway, we opted for some laid-back vibes at a neighborhood bistro. 🇫🇷 Chez George, an iconic spot known for its classic bistro fare, won us over with its cozy ambiance and mouthwatering menu.
