The Sierra Region consists of 4 National Park regions, 9 National Forests, and 22 Wilderness Areas, that encompasses over 13 Million Acres to explore and play in in variety of outdoor activity. Sierra Rec Magazine invite others to see more, do more and experience more of the area near where they live or the areas they have choose to visit.

    The US National Park Service has been protecting the National Parks across the country since 1916, they serve roughly over 300 million visitors every year. The US National Park service is a bureau of the US Department of the Interior, and is led by the Director, nominated by the President and approved by the US Senate. The director is supported by an experienced team of senior executives who manage the budgets, policies, programs and seven regional directors responsible for handling the implementation in the parks across the US. Native Americans were the residents of the Yosemite Valley, until 1849 gold rush brought hundreds of thousands of non-native miners and settlers to the region, driving the natives out of the region.

  • San Francisco to Yosemite

    Keep left and continue on Interstate 205 Eastbound following signs for Interstate 205 / Tracy / Stockton. Use the right lane and take the California 4 Eastbound / California 99 / Downton Stockton /Angeles Keep right to stay on the California 4 , follow signs for California -99 Southbound / Frensham. The road turns slightly here and becomes O’Byrnes Ferry Road continue for 4.7 miles, turn left onto Ca-120 East (signs for Sonora)then turn right onto the CA-120 East for 3.4 miles.

On the other hand if you are an American I would suggest you take full advantage of the American National Park pass (Automobile, America the Beautiful National Parka and Federal Recreational  Lands Pass)  which is for a full year and gives you access to all of the National Parks including the Federal Recreation Areas, costing you $80 which is a small increase with the addition of all of these other Parks you can visit! Compared to the Yosemite Pass (Automobile) which will cost you $60 for the year only allowing you to visit just the Yosemite National Park.   • Girl Being Treated for Plague after Trip to Yosemite

    UPDATE 8/17/2015 Following our recent news update about the Plague being found in Yosemite, a campground will be closed from noon today until noon on Friday due to concerns about the deadly disease that spread to visit erstwhile earlier on in the holiday season. In the five days rangers and officials will be using flea killing poison to try and kill of the infected flees keeping bot the rodents safe and visitors of Yosemite National Park safe. Although the disease is rare people should protect themselves from getting infected by keeping away from wild rodents such as: Rats. Although this is a rare disease, people should protect themselves from infection by avoiding any contact with wild rodents,” state health officer Dr. Karen Smith said in a statement.
