Highlights
  • Why Choose Linen Bedding? (plus tips on caring for linen)

Because it’s made from flax plants, which require much less water than cotton and can grow just about anywhere, linen is a more sustainable fabric. Linen gets better with age Not only will your linen bedding last a very long time (it can last for many decades as it’s much stronger and more durable than cotton), it will also actually get better with age! I’m using their white linen sheet set, Pom Pom Trim Linen Duvet in natural stripe, Pom Pom Trim Linen Pillowcase in natural stripe, and the Beige Waffle Blanket. If, like me, that’s not an option, tumble dry on low heat to about 90% then hang somewhere or place back on the bed (as long as you’re not sleeping on it right away) to dry the rest of the way.

  • Introducing the Improve Canada Showroom

Last month I got to visit Canada’s largest home improvement showroom and believe me when I say, it did NOT disappoint. Improve Canada houses over 350 showrooms for all things from exterior patio stones to interior decorating accessories for a truly start to finish experience when it comes to whatever project you’re tackling! There are lots of showrooms dedicated to kitchens and general home renovations (like and ), but I absolutely loved my time at the Remodel Canada (Unit #205) showroom. however a showroom like Art De Vie Renovation (Unit #318) has a massive selection of flooring on display and samples available for you to take home.

  • How to Make Custom Christmas Sweaters using a Cricut Joy

this couldn’t be any easier, given how small and practical the Cricut Joy is (and if you want more reasons as to why it makes a fantastic gift, check out this post!). I quickly googled general sizes for graphics on adult and kids sweaters and settled on about 10″ wide for adults and no more than 6″ for the kids. I used a mix of iron-on and infusible ink and layered some glitter iron-on over infusible ink as well. Cut, press, repeat 3 more times, and we have ourselves matching Christmas sweaters for the whole family!!!

  • Why Cricut Makes a Great Gift!

I don’t think it’s any secret that I absolutely love my Cricut machines. It’s also incredibly easy to keep out for regular usage since it’s so small and looks great on a shelf. On top of being able to cut a multitude of materials, you can also print custom designs or labels with the Circut Joy! some great gifts you can make with your Cricut Joy, or better yet, gift a machine to someone you know would love to have the freedom to create at the drop of a hat!

  • One Room Challenge Week 8

I’m actually obsessed with the whole space, and a little in awe of the fact that my vision came to life in a way that makes this room feel like it was always meant to look this way in our house. The basket with the rolled-up placemats inside will be so handy for the kids, and I just couldn’t resist adding some of my favourite thrifted pieces, like the glassware, ceramic vase (made in 1972), and my grandmother’s blue vase. The Floral pizza art print is my favourite fun piece in the kitchen, though none of the boys in the house like it because of the flowers – ha! It’s been great to still have a spot for the bowls and glasses we use daily to be accessible, for the plants to enjoy a little sunshine, and for me to hang a few essentials, like cleaning supplies and my favourite watering

  • One Room Challenge Week 8 — The Learner Observer

Even without having to do any tiling or major renovations... even without choosing a complicated space... even with two extra weeks to complete the challenge, I STILL did not make it to my dining room reveal on time. we were before this makeover started: The changes we made: • new Bellewood Grey Toille wall mural (see blog post here) • made new tablecloth and placemats using Trend 04105, Eggshell • I'm actually obsessed with the whole space, and a little in awe of the fact that my vision came to life in a way that makes this room feel like it was always meant to look this way in our house. It's WAY better! Here's the before and after: The Floral pizza art print is my favourite fun piece in the kitchen, though none of the boys in the house like it because of the flowers - ha!It's been great to still have a spot for the bowls and glasses we use daily to be accessible, for the plants to enjoy a little sunshine, and for me to hang a few essentials, like cleaning supplies and my favourite watering can of all time (2 $3.99 thrifted piece from many years

  • A Modern Office for a Modern Man — The Learner Observer

He has been working from home for approximately 3 years and has shuffled from the basement to the dining room table to a makeshift spare bedroom turned office until now. Pretty darn proud of his guy!Using the Cricut Air 2 was the obvious way to go, as it can cut 100 materials (like cork, iron-on, glitter paper, bonded fabric and paper) and it's so easy to set up - To start, I found a GPS arrow in the Cricut Design Space images and added the text, then I resized the letters to the size I needed to create the large wall decal. While the letters are in removable vinyl (which, by the way, makes them so easy to put on the walls and move if needed), the arrow is in a True Brushed vinyl.

  • Choosing chair vinyl upholstery

So there’s a whole other side of this room I haven’t shared much about I’ve considered leaving a chair there, maybe having lots of plants, a tree or something to take up space, but we’re not building a bench anymore However, I still want a place for plant babies and cute things and PLANTS! They’ll be getting made over with new vinyl seats, and I have yet to choose a colour! Don’t forget to check what all of the other guest participants of the One Room Challenge are up to and of course, the featured designers!

  • One Room Challenge Week 4 — The Learner Observer

I've considered leaving a chair there, maybe having lots of plants, a tree or something to take up space, but we're not building a bench anymore and there isn't as much space on this side of the room anymore. However, I still want a place for plant babies and cute things and PLANTS! They'll be getting made over with new vinyl seats, and I have yet to choose a colour!I'm leaning towards something light, but probably not grey. ha!Don't forget to check what all of the other guest participants of the One Room Challenge are up to and of course, the featured designers!
