Port Vale spent £46k on agent fees in last twelve months

Port Vale FC come in ninth place in League Two agent fees after paying £46,319 to agents during the last two transfer windows. The latest FA report covers the period February 2020 to February 2021 – the last two transfer windows. During that period the Valiants brought in ten permanent signings and three loanees. As far as the division goes, it is no surprise that big spending Salford top the list but perhaps more telling is that promotion chasing Tranmere Rovers and Cambridge United both come towards the bottom of the spending table.

Harry McKirdy back as a registered Port Vale player

Port Vale forward Harry McKirdy is back in the squad after an injury to Zak Mills ruled the player out for the rest of the season. Share your thoughts and post a comment at the end of the article. The youngster was one of three players to be deregistered in January, alongside Dino Visser and Dan Trickett-Smith, as Vale kept to new Football League squad limits. Zak Mills was out for the remaining eight games, Vale took their case to the Football League and have been allowed to include McKirdy in his place.

Female referee appointed for Harrogate v Port Vale match

Female referee appointed: Port Vale’s Easter Monday game against Harrogate Town is set to mark a new chapter in the game as Rebecca Welch is been named as the matchday referee. Welch is the highest-ranking female referee in English football and her selection for the game comes after review of her performances this season by referee heads Mike Riley and Mike Jones. The 37-year-old, from Washington in County Durham, has officiated eight National League games this season and refereed the Women’s FA Cup final in 2017 and 2020. It shows that there is a real opportunity to young girls who are wondering if they are to take the whistle or are already referees they can aspire to be an EFL referee or like Sian Massey-Ellis operating in the Premier League.

Five thoughts after Port Vale's excellent away win at Crawley Town

Much criticised Theo Robinson deserves to start: Rob Fielding shares his thoughts after an excellent away performance against Crawley Town on Saturday afternoon. In press conferences, Clarke has said he always tries to play two upfront when he can and Saturday’s game was a great example of why he should continue. I’m sure that the Valiants will be looking for a younger alternative to Leon Legge in the summer, so Brisley is unlikely to be first choice, but he looks a good squad player to have around next season. They are going to know best if Manny’s issues are manageable or not and their input will no doubt play a big role in manager Darrell Clarke’s retained list decision.

Crawley 1-3 Port Vale match report

On five minutes, Manny Oyeleke threaded a through ball to Theo Robinson whose shot was saved by Glenn Morris. David Worrall’s cross found the head of Leon Legge and after confusion in the area, captain Tom Conlon half-volleyed the ball home from the edge of the box. There were early calls for a penalty before Theo Robinson’s header struck the woodwork on 58 minutes. Eight minutes later, Vale did take the lead when fantastic play by Conlon saw him keep the ball in and deliver a low cross into the area which Nathan Smith hammered home.

Crawley Town v Port Vale preview

Midfielder Nathan Ferguson has a spell at Vale Park making just a solitary appearance but had a far more successful time at Crawley making 52 appearances and scoring seven times. Vale’s last visit to Crawley ended in a goalless draw last season. Probably the simplest way to watch it on the TV screen is to watch the stream on a browser and connect your computer to your TV via a HDMI lead. Port Vale will also be sending all season ticket holders a link to a complimentary digital copy of our new-look matchday programme!
