  • Gluten-Free Globetrotter in 2021

My plan for Gluten-Free Globetrotter is to go back to my roots of sharing my personal story, advocating for the celiac disease community, and helping others navigate their gluten-free journey both near and far. I also plan to update my Gluten-Free in New York City content including more guides, more maps, and maybe even a gluten-free food tour after years of you asking me for one. I also want to celebrate living with celiac disease for 40 years. My favorite part of living with celiac disease has always been the amazing community of people that I have connected with around the world.

Through Michael’s personal celiac story and interviews with other people living with celiac and doctors, he sets out to separate fact from fiction about the gluten-free diet. A bag of this popcorn would go great with watching The Celiac Project documentary.

  • Thanksgiving 2020

The one thing that 2020 has done is force me to appreciate the things I do have, the people in my life, and the small things that surround me daily. Being physically separated from friends and family has led to actual phone calls and conversations, not just loosey-goosey text messages. I love when I can hop on a phone call with someone I never met in another state/country and chat like old friends. This Thanksgiving, I urge you to focus on the little things we have in life while we try to push forward into an unknown future.

  • Gluten-Free NYC: Pandemic Edition

As NYC is slowly reopening, outdoor dining is allowed, and take-out is in full swing, I thought it would be a great time to update my Dedicated Gluten-Free in New York City list. Updated Dedicated Gluten-Free in New York City post. While it does sound like they take extra precaution, this list is for dedicated gluten-free only! Elisa’s Love Bites (formerly of Brooklyn) just opened a new gluten-free bakery in the East Village.

  • Gluten-Free Globetrotter Going “LIVE” in May 2020

While New York City is still officially on “PAUSE” and the inability to travel at the moment, I want to connect with the gluten-free community in a new way. We are going to discuss reputable resources within the gluten-free community, how to check on the resources you are using, and bloggers within the celiac community. It quickly grew in both demand and generous donations from neighbors in Astoria, Queens, New York. Through the dispersal of these food items to the community, Macaela realized that people with celiac, crohn’s, and colitis often cannot eat the regular donations at food pantries.

  • Happy Celiac Awareness Month

If this isn’t a sign of the current state of the world, I don’t know what is?! It may be crazy times but there is no reason to stop educating others about celiac disease. I will also be sharing some of my favorite Gluten-Free Globetrotters from around the globe.

  • Celiac Disease and Coronavirus: What You Need to Know

“People with celiac disease who are otherwise healthy are not immunocompromised and not at higher risk for coronavirus. New government advice about at risk groups now includes criteria which includes people with coeliac disease. Translation: The available scientific evidence does not report any greater risk of acquiring a new Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 infection for people with celiac disease. The advice from our Medical Advisory Committee is that presently, there is no evidence that coeliac disease imparts a higher risk of serious illness to COVID-19, but there will be people with coeliac disease who do fall within categories of higher risk for serious infection (e.g. aged over 60).
