  • Why You Need to Explore Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park

The old-growth redwoods on the California coast are kings and queens of the forest, and if you’re traveling north through California, your last chance to camp in a primeval forest of ancient redwoods is nine miles east of Crescent City in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. Snaking its way through this ancient forest are the crystalline waters of California’s last big wild, free-flowing river-the Smith River, also known by the name Tolowa. ’s wildlife while the river flows by — bald eagles, northern spotted owls, black bear, bobcat, mountain lions, beaver, river otters, black-tailed deer, elk and coyote all make their homes in this locale and frequent the sparkling waters of the Smith River. California State Parks – Visit the Jedediah Smith State Park website to learn more about camping, trails, and interpretive programs.

  • Fall in Love with America's Most Romantic National Parks

By February, winter’s clutches are slowly loosening their grip on Arches National Park, and you will find relatively mild, pleasant days, very few people, and tiny wildflowers making a glorious appearance across the canyon. : Beat the National Park Crowds in these Incredible National Forests Paddle Through the Mangroves in Everglades National Park Winter is considered the dry season in Everglades National Park, and it’s a secluded paradise for birders and lovers of wildlife. How to Compost in Denver

Denver Composting started in 2013 and only 13% of Denver households compost. All Denver compost is taken to Al Organics, where they turn our waste into compost to be sold to farmers and gardens. You can also purchase it at your local Ace or during The City of Denver’s Anual Mulch & Compost Giveaway. Just call one of these services and get started today, you will regret not doing this sooner as I do • Tell your representative to expand composting and recycling service in Denver and Colorado • Educate yourself!

  • You can Afford that Cross Country Road Trip. Here's How...

Going without the luxury of four solid walls will certainly keep the green in your wallet, but even if camping isn’t your thing, you can still plan an awesome budget road trip while still sleeping in a comfy bed at night. While you don’t have to budget for every single expenditure of your road trip, it is super useful to have a ballpark idea of how much your trip will cost so you can start saving. You can’t change your car’s MPG, but you can change the distance that you will travel on your trip to save money. Here’s what we’ve found over years and years of road tripping: private campgrounds are the most expensive (around $50 a night), followed by state parks ($25 – $50 a night).

4 Ways To Be More Sustainable In Your Kitchen

In 2020 I made a pledge to try and use more sustainable products when possible in my life and cut down on single-use plastics. and I feel so much better about tossing food we didn’t eat or has gone bad into the compost vs the trash. Stasher bags are made with non-toxic silicone, microwave safe, freezer safe, you can even pop it in the oven or sous vide! Truth be told we still use paper towels, we have them both on the counter and sometimes paper towels just feel like the right choice, but now that we are composting I don’t feel as bad throwing them away cause I can now compost them!
