I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold…than to be held in sins dread sway…than Men’s applause…than anything this world affords today. If you’re looking for an account that says that we are the hero of our own story, that no one should ever tell us we’re wrong, that “you do you” and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, that calls people who are being mean haters and treats our pride as a virtue … this isn’t the account. I uphold our worth because we are made in the image of God - not because of anything we’ve done (what freedom)! I ignore mean comments and instead pray that they will come to know our Lord and Savior. And above all I joyfully admit I am no hero. I would have nothing and no hope if it weren’t for Jesus Christ dying for my sins. He is my hero. He must be greater and I must be less. This doesn’t mean my value is diminished - quite the opposite. I’m a daughter of the king. What can man do to me? And In this lies more peace than I could possibly explain sweet sisters.

Sundays mean the devil works overtime to make us late, fight, quick to anger — anything to keep us from listening to the Word proclaimed and from focusing on laying ourselves aside so we can worship our Father in Heaven. So today when we set our tired batoodies in that chair at church (because we WILL make it there), let’s all take a deep breath (like actually do it), pray that God will remove all distractions from our hearts and minds. I pray every Sunday morning that God will reveal any sin im blinded that is keeping me from honoring Him.
