It’s not a lot of cleaning that is right away noticeable, but it’s the behind the scenes stuff that I tend to get behind on. Also, a few more of those my boy is growing up way too fast moments, and it was the boy’s turn to be sick with what’s been going around. It wasn’t as bad for him as it’s been for the others I know, but a day in bed doing nothing slowed him down some and set our school week back just a bit. It’s the first week of April

I also noticed that this one was going to be lined, and as much as I dislike lining a dress (I haven’t successfully lined a dress yet), I told myself to just do it, I’m never going to get over this if I don’t start sometime. The most time consuming thing was transferring the pattern markings to the dress, but that’s always tedious, so nothing out of the ordinary. I didn’t do any fancy lining attachments to the zipper or skirt, just serged the two parts together and attached the skirt and zipper. The skirt has no gathers and no pleats and it’s been awhile since I’ve made a skirt like this.

My day to day has been consumed by grading papers, shuffling through grade sheets, and working on computer spread sheets for school. Instead of the seasonal beer garden at the Cheekwood botanical gardens (we’ve been trying to go to this since last spring, but something always came up), we ended up downtown eating lunch and riding scooters. We had plenty of time to spare this day and were only there for fun, so we downloaded the apps and off we went. We finished the day out with a little bit of shopping and came home happy and refreshed from the fun weekend out.

Spring is the perfect time for penguins, isn’t it? And the weekend I wore it was a mixture of rain, warmer temps, and then sun. I can’t help making this one over and over though because it’s such an easy make and has the silhouette that I love the most. This one is February’s dress, and I will get the one I made for January up next week.
