By spending time on social media as we invariably do, our subconscious is constantly comparing our talents, looks, achievements, and even our happiness levels to everyone else. It seems like everyone can do a headstand these days, or run a marathon, take beautiful photos, or travel to the other side of the world. If you choose music, there’s always that 3 year old Chinese kid with a guitar that can make you look like an idiot. So if you’re standing somewhere, with your camera in your hand, waiting to hit that shutter button, do not hesitate.
It doesn’t work in every case but if you’re planning to fly, it’s worth taking a look since you could save a huge amount on your tickets. But, if you do a search for Boston to San Diego, you’ll see that you can buy a Boston – Los Angeles – San Diego ticket for $154. The reason you cannot have checked in luggage is because usually airlines will insist on tagging it through to your final destination (remember, you’re getting off en-route). For visas or other documentation as well, airlines will often make sure at check-in that you have the right paperwork to arrive at your destination, so it’s best to be in the clear with that.
Flying in directly (to: AXA airport) is an option although there is only direct air service from San Juan, Puerto Rico (USA), Sint Maarten (a neighbouring island), or St. Barths (also another island that is fairly close). The best option to get to Anguilla is to take a flight to Sint Maarten and then take a ferry to Anguilla. The other option, and by far the cheapest one, is to take a taxi to the french side of St Maarten for $20 and then take the $20 public ferry across to Anguilla. The ferry runs every 45 minutes and drops you off at Blowing Point terminal in Anguilla, which is where all ferries, public or private, drop you off anyway.
Even though these two territories are on a single island in the Caribbean, St Maarten and St Martin belong to Holland and France respectively. Indian citizens can get a 90 day stamp if they have a valid Schengen, US, or Canadian visa stamped in their passport. Since the EU has abolished roaming tariffs, I could use my Portuguese cellphone on the French side of this Caribbean island with no roaming charges! So turns out that while you can enter Sint Maarten (the dutch side) with a valid US/Canadian/Schengen visa, for the French side you need a France issued visa that allows for overseas territories, or a residence permit issued by a Schengen state.
