Tristania Falls. This is one of two waterfalls you see on the Wonga Walk trail. When we visited it was raining and it had been for a few days. This made the volume of water going over the falls greater and I guess more impressive. . It was a little foggy when I reach Tristania Falls and quite dark. The morning that we walked the Wonga Walk trail was wet and we actually walked through the clouds at times. Some parts of the walk were eerily dark, however, the forest seemed alive with bird calls and the flora was vividly green and so vibrant! . The Wonga Walk is in the Dorrigo National Park, NSW, Australia. The cost for entry into the park is a paltry $2. . Tip for visiting - My tip would be to go early. Wonga Walk is a 6.6km loop in the Dorrigo National Park, near Coff's Habour in New South Wales. . Although we visited in the rain, we had a good walk. It is stunningly beautiful. . We got there early and, once we saw how busy it got later on, we were happy for our early walk. . The walk is paved and fairly easy for people with moderate fitness. It is undulating with steep inclines and declines in places. . I think the rain glistening off all the greenery made it even prettier than usual. . Crystal Shower Falls . Wonga Walk at Dorrigo National Park. . We hired a car while at Coffs Harbour and drove to the Dorrigo National Park to have a walk through the forest. It was unfortunate that we hired the car for three days and it rained the entire time. We changed our plans the first day since the next day was to be clearer. One of our stops as we sailed from Darwin to Sydney was Cooktown. . Cooktown is a coastal town on the Cape York Peninsula, Far North Queensland at the mouth of the Endeavour River. Named after James Cook, it is where he beached his ship, the Endeavour, for repairs in 1770. . On a walk to the local pub for lunch, I noticed a few boats were looking a little neglected. During our stay at Flinders Island (see previous photo) one thing made up for the activities we lacked (i.e. snorkelling, swimming etc) and that was eating fresh oysters! . As our sailing from Darwin to Sydney continues, so too does our ups and downs. The saying "NEVER SMOOTH SAILING" was said for a reason! The weather here looks beautiful and serene, however, what you can't see is the very, very, strong winds that are whipping up the seas outside of the shelter of these islands. Here, between Flinders Island and Standley Island, we anchored out of the wind and waited for conditions to improve. . We couldn't swim, no snorkelling, because of crocodiles and box jellyfish and, I must admit we became a bit bored. One aspect of this place did improve our hardship 😉 and that was eating oysters straight from the beach! . If you look closely you will see Dwayne bending down behind the mangroves. Valentia Island is part of the Croker Group. This group of islands is in the Arafura Sea, offshore from Cobourg Peninsula, Northern Territory of Australia. The group of islands are Aboriginal freehold land, held by the Arnhem Land Aboriginal Land Trust. . We took this opportunity to get off the boat and stretch our legs. Where we came ashore in the dinghy was just a small beach. It was a nice place for a walk, but hot... very hot and not safe to swim. No only crocs to worry about but it is also stinger season. . . . More about the Crocker Islands Group - The group consists of at least 12 named islands, and a number of small unnamed islands and rocks. By far the largest island of the group is Croker Island, which has an area of 331 km². Croker Island is also the only permanently inhabited island in the group.
