Inspiring everyone to walk out the front door and explore!
She explains that I got on the Munich metro, and not the “big train” to Bavaria. Apparently, it takes more than just a hot second in Germany to figure out the train system. Kindly, my German helper suggests I go back to Munich Central Station, not all the way to the airport, and I can find a train there. This time, I was going in the right direction, and on the “big” train.
I bought a package before I left home but haven’t been wearing them in the city because I haven’t been in close contact with other people in days. Standing in the long line I realize it is long because everyone in it is standing a meter apart. Walk outside to Terminal 3, go through security, then walk back inside security and back to Terminal 1. I wonder how long it will be before there is a generation who can’t figure out how to fill out a paper form with little boxes to check.
Not sure if it was the shortest line because they had so few flights still flying to and from Rome or they are more efficient at handling their customers. The agent assures me I will get a full refund from Expedia for my first over-priced, cancelled one-way ticket (which I did) and I should just book a new ticket. Flights with 3-4 layovers in various directions, all priced over $2000 for a one-way ticket. Back in my original room, an upgraded two room suite, I take a hot, soapy shower and eat my pizza.
My blog, www.journeysjauntsandjunkets.com, is funded by tourism boards, affiliate sponsors, and any creative way I can find to move around the world to generate interesting travel experiences, inspiring my audience to create their own adventures and walk out the door to explore. The first leg of my trip was to volunteer as a native English speaker for Speak in Italy, a conversational English language immersion program for Italian professionals seeking to improve their English language skills. The second leg of the trip was to attend TBEX, the Travel Bloggers Exchange, a conference where travel bloggers get together to improve technical, writing, and photography skills, meet with potential sponsors and generally work together to figure out this blogging business. It seems surreal to be taking these precautions when there is still plenty of hot, soapy water to wash with, plenty of sanitizer, and still plenty of food in the city of Rome.
