Angie Orth is a recovering agency publicist with more than 15 years in the marketing industry and 12 years as an award-winning content creator. She created AngieAway.com to chronicle a yearlong round-the-world trip that accidentally became a career. Angie’s adventures have landed her on the Today Show, the New York Post, Cosmopolitan, Buzzfeed, AFAR and Glamour. She is currently producing and co-hosting The Jet Sisters, a video series focusing on Millennial travel.
In addition to working on content campaigns with dozens of brands and DMOs including Ford, Dramamine, Virgin Atlantic, Windstar Cruises and Visit Britain, Angie has served as a long-term ambassador for Travelocity, the Rocky Mountaineer, Yahoo Travel and AFAR. She works with travel brands to create ambassador programs and founded the Blog Squad program at Universal Orlando Resort.
Angie received her Bachelor of Science in public relations, French and Spanish from the University of Florida. She was a finalist for Season 6 of The Apprentice and was chosen out of 30,000 to be a top 50 finalist for Australia’s Best Job in the World campaign. In 2015, AngieAway.com was named one of Southern Living’s “30 Best Blogs to Follow.”

so let’s get down to business – Rae and Ben’s perfect wedding! We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Apopka City Center and hear me on this: there’s no closer or easier location to stay for a wedding at Highland Manor. Hodgie says he’s hanging up his preacher hat after Rae’s Apopka wedding. Apopka is just 12 miles northwest of Orlando, a short drive to downtown Orlando, the Orlando International Airport (MCO), Disney, Universal and all of central Florida’s top attractions.
they don’t actually have a budget to pay content creators but will offer two *free* nights in exchange for 6 Instagram posts, daily Instagram stories, a blog post with trackable link, an edited, hosted, 60-second video, unlimited licensing rights to 30 photos, pre-approval all content before it goes live, post-trip reporting and one year of exclusivity. The crux of it all is that many marketers want the budget friendly benefits of an editorial press trip (a.k.a. they pay for travel but not for the content) but they also want all the guaranteed deliverables of a marketing campaign and they want to tell you when to publish it and where. Now, professional content creators not only want to travel to cool places, work, write and take photos, but we do all that and have the expertise to ensure our content actually makes it to consumers who want to see it, for years to come. On a media trip with journalists, bloggers and TikTokkers – journalists shouldn’t be the only ones making a living if indeed the content creators’ work is also of value to the destination / brand.
All that said, I’m not going to write a whole 2020 recap this year. that I’m where I’m meant to be, doing what I’m meant to do. I wanted 2020 to be the year I reset my body and my lifestyle, and as horrible as the pandemic has been on a global scale, it may well have been the only thing that could force me to slow down long enough to get that much-needed rest. If I’ve learned anything at all it’s that I couldn’t begin to predict what’s going to happen in the next 10, but I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me.
