It’s a simple design that is easily customizable for your space and makes it simple for little people to store their shoes (read: put their daggone shoes away themselves). The trays hold about 5 pairs of little kid shoes, 4 pairs of women’s shoes, and really only a couple pairs of men’s shoes…which is kind of perfect, if you really think about it. With the construction of the mudroom and addition of shoe storage we implemented a full ban on shoes in the house (past the mudroom). These simple crayon holders make great gifts for Valentine’s Day classroom gift giving (say that three times fast), or for birthday party favors. I carefully fit the bit to my kids’ crayons, and then found that the crayons I bought were juuuust a tiny bit too large, so they crayons fit looser than I wanted. And it’s great training for when you have them take over sanding all of the stuff you don’t want to sand down the road a bit. Stick the labels to some bags (I picked some up at Hobby Lobby), fill the holders with crayons, and plop them into the bags, and count that Valentine’s day classroom prep a success.

To install the drawers on my workbench I used the Universal Drawer Slide Jig, the Drawer Pull Jig, and drawer front installation clamps, all by Rockler. For the drawer pulls I used this little trick… To install the drawer pulls I used the Rockler Jig It Deluxe Drawer Pull, and I cannot say enough about how simple to use and awesome this thing is.
