There aren’t many days that I don’t get out of my staple jeans and t-shirt let alone the house or hospital, but while we were in Byron Bay This embroidered dream is by local Byron label Chasing Unicorns, who makes all of her pieces ethically, slowly by hand with the intention of being passed down from mother to daughter. I hope Ru grows in to it one day, but until then it was a beautiful excuse for a few photos together and a quiet afternoon chasing the seagulls.
If anyone that I know is visiting Australia, and Sydney for the first time I make sure to tell them to visit the Blue Mountains. Emirates One & Only Wolgan Valley have created what I consider to be not only be Australia’s best luxurious resort, but also the most quintessentially Australian. Each morning we would make sure to wake early to see the last of the fog roll through the valley, clearing slightly to let the suns rays saturate the surrounding rock face in bright pinks. We spent most of our time simply walking and enjoying the views and wildlife, but were also treated to an incredible picnic nestled high among the mountains overlooking the valley, followed by hot chocolates by the campfire while star gazing at night.
We had a small picnic at a local park with our closest friends and family. If only I could find the words to explain what Ru’s birthday means to us… twelve months of pure resilience. Being able to see her barefoot, curiously and independently playing in the grass had me in tears of happiness. My only hope is for this next year to go easy on her, to have more mornings waking up at home, growing and learning together, and with many more warm days playing with friends outside or chasing her through the rain.
It boasts several impeccably curated dwellings on the property but their most intimate space blew us away. The Barn” is literally a converted barn, with wooden beamed heigh ceilings and quaint cottage windows. It is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Byron Bay’s main town just minutes away, nestled under the trees that you can watch sway from the bathrooms glass ceiling. Ru and I had spent the afternoon splashing around in the tub when the sky suddenly opened up, and we got to bathe beneath a thunderstorm in awe.
