180 Days of Change: Improvements to uberPOOL

In June we made a commitment to drivers: For 180 days (and beyond), we’d make meaningful changes to the driver experience based on what drivers asked for. In Chapter 4 of 180 Days, we’re getting to the heart of that feedback with new ways to earn and improvements that will make for better rides and rating on uberPOOL. You can learn more about the changes — designed to help drivers earn more and stress less with uberPOOL — here. This chapter represents an exciting step forward in that effort, and we’ll be back next month with more changes designed to help drivers get more out of their experience and their time on the road.

More access to restaurants at the push of a button: Introducing cash payments on UberEATS

For restaurants and delivery partners, cash expands access to UberEATS, allowing Mumbai’s food-makers to grow their businesses and reach more of their customers. After launching with 200 pioneering restaurants partners just a few months ago, consumers, restaurants, and delivery partners have embraced UberEATS. As we’ve expanded to Bengaluru and New Delhi, consumers are discovering some classic dishes, with North Indian food topping the charts as the most popular food, as well as showcasing India’s diversity of taste with Chinese food as the second favorite cuisine. More and more Indians are incorporating Uber in their daily lives, whether it’s to get a ride across town, expand the reach of their restaurants or earn extra money by driving their cars or making deliveries on scooters.

Supporting DREAMers

When I was 10 years old, I left Vietnam with my mother and younger brother, crammed with 470 other people without life jackets onto an old fishing boat to Malaysia. When we reached the US as refugees, we had to start our lives over with empty hands, but it was the hope and promise of the American Dream that kept us going. Immigrants often risk their lives for a chance at freedom and opportunity, and our country remains the world’s beacon of freedom and opportunity. Today, the Trump Administration announced it will end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which gave children of illegal immigrants the chance to stay in the US and contribute to their communities and the economy.

Highlights from Today's Company Meeting

He said: “It’s great to actually meet the people who are here at Uber—every day bringing their passion to make this incredible dream come true and really grow this company that’s changing the world. Everyone’s different, everyone has their own skillsets—if you’re numerative or have a higher EQ, if you’re here in the US or in a global office, if you’re a dev, if you’re in marketing, if you’re in PR, or ops or regardless of your gender or your beliefs—everyone is going to participate and contribute in their own way. I know that that’s not a reality, but that’s certainly what the American Dream represents, and it’s incredibly powerful. So you’ll see me sitting there asking you lots of questions and listening intently, because that’s the best way to learn and that’s the best way I think to get a lot out of teams
