Had a blast on the media preview sailing of @royalcaribbean’s newest ship, Utopia of the Seas, last week! She’s a gorgeous vessel with bright colors, 40 food and beverage venues, spectacular entertainment (@meghantrainor is the godmother of the ship and she was onboard with us and gave us an awesome concert!), and a great vibe. This ship will be doing 3- and 4-day itineraries in the Caribbean (out of Port Canaveral) … trust me, it’s a weekend getaway you’ll want to experience! I can’t wait to get back on board … hopefully someday soon! #royalcaribbean #utopiaoftheseas #cruiseship #cruiselife #travelwriter
Spent my 47th birthday in Paris 2 weeks ago and treated myself to a photo shoot with @airbnbexperiences 📸 The rain held off just long enough, a birthday miracle, but the wind and cold temps were another story 😂 It was a good thing I was hiding some warm leggings under this dress and holding tight to my beret! The things we do for a fantastic photo, amiright? 🇫🇷 #paris #eiffeltower #parisian #parisfrance #birthdaygirl #travelwriter #flyingdress #frenchstyle
I think small towns in France suit me … boarded a @vikingcruises in Paris a couple days ago and we’re headed to Normandy on the Seine. So far, I think the coolest thing about a river cruise (this is my first) is that we keep passing little villages along the way (instead of just seeing a vast ocean on all 4 sides of the ship) and the excursions provide the perfect opportunity to explore them. Today we stopped in Auvers-Sur-Oise, where Vincent Van Gogh spent the last 2 months of his life. He was so inspired here, he painted 70+ paintings in that short time, and I could see why. What an absolutely charming village … don’t you agree? #vikingcruises #rivercruise #seine #vangogh #myvikingstory #paris #cruiselife #travelwriter #france
Spent some time at the Chi Lin Nunnery today on another fantastic @crystalcruises excursion… what spectacular architecture and gardens! In a city as busy as Hong Kong, this is such a peaceful oasis. I was astounded by something new at every turn 😍 Which picture speaks to your soul? #hongkong #travelwriter #hongkongphotography #hongkonginsta
A handful of years ago, I started inviting my dad on my press trips … at first we did trips to North Dakota, New Mexico and South Carolina. Then we began to branch out to further-away destinations, like Greece, Ireland, and Alaska. This week, we made it all the way to Cambodia (pictured here, at a market), Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong! And later this year we are planning Iceland and the Galápagos Islands, along with Italy, Spain, France and Malta. We’ve come a long way since North Dakota! The memories we make together while exploring new places are incredibly special … I’m so grateful for our time together ❤️ I just wish everyone we encountered would stop assuming he’s my husband cuz that’s gross 😂 #travelwriter #cambodia #asiatravel #crystalcruises #fatherdaughter #fatherdaughtertime #seetheworld
With only one afternoon in Cambodia, I made the most of it: what really stuck out to me on my @crystalcruises excursion were the people. We docked in Sihanoukville and went to Wat Leu Pagoda to receive a blessing from a monk. Then we went to Psar Leu Market, the biggest in the area, to explore the clothing, local produce, and fresh seafood. Finally, we stopped in a fishing village to see fisherman preparing to go out to sea for the day’s catch. So here’s my “day in the life of a Cambodian” photo montage. Have you been to Cambodia? I’ll have to come back someday to see more! Which cities should I visit when I do? #cambodia #crystalcruises #sihanoukville #cambodiatravel #cruiselife
I’ve been wanting to visit Bangkok for years … feels surreal to finally be here, absorbing all the sights, smells, sounds, tastes, culture, language, history, folklore, and architecture. Only 2 days into this 18-day trip and I can already say it’s a dream come true! #bangkok #bangkokthailand #thailand #travelwriter #templeoftherecliningbuddha #watpho
Back in May 2023, @royalcaribbean flew me (and a whole group of journalists) out to Turku, Finland to see the Icon of the Seas being constructed — yes, the WORLD’S largest cruise ship you keep hearing about. She was about 70% complete at the time, and it was really cool to see the work in action. ⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️ Fast forward to tomorrow, when my dad and I will board the Icon for the 3-day media preview sailing … we’re among its first passengers, which means I can give you the inside scoop on what to expect! 🛳️🛳️🛳️🛳️🛳️🛳️🛳️🛳️🛳️🛳️🛳️🛳️🛳️🛳️🛳️🛳️ What are you most excited about with the Icon? The largest water park at sea? The 40 dining and drink venues? The new Neighborhoods? 🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊 Stay tuned for tons of content headed your way the next few days! #royalcaribbean #royalcaribbeancruise #royalcaribbeaninternational #iconoftheseas #cruiseship #travelwriter #cruiselife #cruiseaddict #cruisevacation #cruise
Been wanting to check out Perfect Day at Coco Cay —Royal Caribbean’s private island — for years and finally did yesterday. We had a lot of fun going down the waterslides (catch my videos in Stories before they disappear!), lounging on the beach, and meandering the vast space. There’s plenty to eat/do without having to spend any extra money, so it’s basically a free shore excursion. ☀️☀️perfect day, indeed☀️☀️ I’ll be back at Perfect Day again in a couple days, when I attend the media preview sailing of the world’s largest cruise ship, Icon of the Seas! #royalcaribbean #royalcaribbeancruise #iconoftheseas #perfectdayatcococay #travelwriter #cruise #allureoftheseas #cruiseship #cruiselife #cruiseaddict #cruises
It’s no secret I love everything pink, so imagine my delight upon discovering my Orlando hotel accommodations matched my preferred color palette 🩷 The Caribe Royale recently underwent a $140 million renovation and it shows! It’s less than 2 miles from Disney World, Disney Springs and Epcot, making it your perfect Orlando home base. Plus, the staff is friendly, the onsite restaurants and market featuring local and housemade treats are great (the AAA 4 Diamond Venetian Chop House is particularly fantastic), and the pool has a waterfall and water slide. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat! 🩷 #cariberoyaleorlando #cariberoyaleresort #orlando #orlandoflorida #travelwriter #hotellife #pinkhotels #orlandohotels
We had a lot of rain in Honduras today, making my beach day a wash. But I snapped this shot just as we were leaving the port and I’m happy we got a glimpse of this island’s beauty before departing! Have you been to Roatan? . . . #honduras #honduras🇭🇳 #roatan #roatanhonduras #princesscruises #regalprincess #travelwriter
It’s a massive, sustainably harvested whole Maine lobster with a special shrimp and buttery panko-crumb stuffing. The Maine lobster industry is the model of a well-managed fishery — ensuring that both the lobster resource and the environment are protected for generations to come,” says Bluewater Grill co-founder Jimmy Ulcickas. Bluewater’s Holiday Baked Stuffed Main Lobster meal (including the chowder, bread and two side dishes) is available for $40 through Jan. 2, 2019. The events have become a popular monthly diversion for local seafood aficionados and Bluewater Grill’s large fan base.
There’s a lot to see in this village, but here are my top 5 picks when you only have one day to see it all: Like many great cities in this part of the world (think: Amsterdam and Venice), Ghent is situated along winding canals. The building fronts offer exquisite displays of architecture — though most date back to the Middle Ages, the monumental facades were updated in the late 1800s in anticipation of the World’s Fair (which Ghent hosted in 1913). For instance, there’s a super creepy room with a guillotine smack dab in the middle — while it’s only a replica, it comes complete with the original blade! There’s no shortage of restaurants and cafes to choose from, both in the city center and along the river — and many offer outdoor seating options, which is the perfect way to enjoy a meal on a beautiful day.
Consistent with Bluewater Grill’s strict commitment to seafood sustainability, all varieties of tuna served during the tasting complied with sustainability standards established by the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach or other third-party organizations dedicated to fish-origin certification. In addition to the original location in Newport Beach’s Cannery Village, there are Bluewater Grills at King Harbor in Redondo Beach, in the Camelback neighborhood of central Phoenix (my neck of the woods), in Temecula Wine Country in Southern California’s Offered on the second Tuesday of every month, Bluewater Grill’s monthly tasting events allow seafood aficionados to satisfy their cravings in a spirited setting featuring the latest seasonal fresh fish varieties and commentary by the restaurant’s resident seafood experts. Bluewater Executive Chef Jason Mazur combines freshly shucked oysters on the half shell from Washington and British Columbia with Cedar Plank Salmon from the Pacific Northwest and wild Alaskan Halibut.
