Can Thrive Algae Oil Replace Your Olive Oil? ⋆ Geek Mamas

I recently got the chance to try Thrive Culinary Algae Oil through Tryazon, and decided to make three things I would normally make with olive oil to see how it stood up to the test: a dipping sauce for bread, pasta salad and salad dressing. When you hear algae, most people think of the ocean, so I was surprised to read that their algae originates from the sap of a chestnut tree and is then fermented in large vats like you make beer or wine. Thrive Algae Oil has the highest level of monounsaturated fat – the good fats! I set out balsamic vinegar and red wine vinegar for people who wanted to do an oil and vinegar dressing, but also wanted a creamy dressing offering.

A Game of Tea: Game of Thrones Inspired Tea Sampler from Adagio ⋆ Geek Mamas

So to celebrate, I thought it was time to break out the Adagio Game of Thrones tea sampler set. They offer sampler sets of six that come in cool little metal tins you can use long after the tea is gone. There are three different Game of Thrones sampler tea sets available alone! The one I picked out was created by Aun-Juli Riddle and features several chai blends spiked with spices and warm notes of caramel, coconut and spiced apple.

Week in Review: Bowling, Birthdays, a Big Shark, Easter Nails and Photo Air Fresheners ⋆ Geek Mamas

My son’s original due date was on his dad’s birthday! We got an early start on summer bowling with the Kids Bowl Free program. We had some excitement during our usual evening beach walk this week when some fisherman caught a shark at Atlantic Beach and then quickly posed for a photo before putting it back in the water. I got to try out creating a few personalized photo air fresheners this week at PhotoAirFresheners.com.

The Not-so-Baby Shark at Atlantic Beach ⋆ Geek Mamas

I found more shark’s teeth than ever, just this time they were still in the mouth of the largest shark I’ve been up close and personal with outside of an aquarium! I learned all about shark reproduction parts last year, when I came upon only part of a shark on the beach and thought it was a dead stingray. After posting that photo, some people pointed out that was actually shark genitalia I had found, minus the rest of the shark. My favorite comments were from all the ladies more interested in the beefy guys holding the shark than the actual shark.
