I’ve long said I want my home to be comfortable for me and my cats, while having it scream “Welcome to Casa Cat Not wanting to spend the cash on reupholstery, I was excited when the folks at Cat Friendly Sofa reached out to me about their tailor made anti-scratch sofa covers. As parents to five cats, they understood a cat’s desire to scratch was natural and served several purposes (I love that they discuss the reasons cats scratch on their website in an effort to educate). They took a great deal of time in research and development taking into consideration cat scratching behavior and testing various types of materials in order to find one that’s 100% cat proof.
I made the decision that it was time to say goodby to my sweet, beloved, painfully shy, carb-addicted, soulful, chunky monkey Petie (aka Petie Bear, Petie Pita Pants, Petie Pantaloon…). What it was like for me having to make that decision for the first time in my life, but I don’t want to go there today. Petie was a food addict and the reason that, as a single woman without 2-legged children, I have toddler locks on my refrigerator and cabinets (over the course of a few evenings he managed to break the seal on my refrigerator looking for the cat food I thought I’d so cleverly hidden there – don’t worry, he was NOT starving as is hopefully obviously in the photos! ). While he wasn’t the most affectionate cat – unless food was involved he would literally “call me” to my bedroom for “loving time.
Those of you who have been frequent visitors to I HAVE CAT over the years know my cats don’t write. When contacted by the illustrious blog That Cat Blog, Kip felt he must break his silence. He had to let the world know what he was thinking, and finally the perfect vehicle had come along. So check it out, and leave a comment there and feel free to come back here and let us know if there’s anything else you’d like to learn about Kip!
If you’re a regular reader of this blog you know my belief that making a home cat friendly and expressing one’s design aesthetic do not have to be mutually exclusive. And I love finding and sharing products and tips that help achieve a cat home that makes all it’s residents comfortable! So when Evan Ryan – a cat man and industrial designer – shared his new product The Cone by Wiski with me, I was immediately intrigued and had to share it with you. And even though it’s tall, it’s sturdy because it’s supported by solid steel rods that also makes the base.
