For those that may be new to snowshoeing, you are basically strapping on what look to be new-fangled tennis rackets to your feet, as you shuffle along the snow. Neither of these notions are really accurate; I’d describe it as a shuffle through the snow, ideal for those that want low impact to the knees and joints but a great cardio workout. Since I’ve been doing it for a while now, I don’t always need the trekking poles, but if you are thinking of anything other than flat terrain, you will want some poles. Rifles and guns collect residue each time they are fired so in order to loosen this residue you need to begin cleaning by passing wet patches moist with the proper bore solvent for the type of bullets you have been firing. Once attached, moisten the patch with the proper solvent and pass it through the bore and full length of the barrel several times. After several passes through the barrel in order to loosen residue and other fouling it’s time to use a bore brush. Remember that if you use oil in the bore you must run a dry patch or two through the barrel before you use it again.
