Cleveland Browns Training Camp 2019: WR Preview, Part 2

’s career a bit in 2018; but again, that was with a club that didn’t feature Odell Beckham Jr. Called upon due to injuries at the wide receiver position last year, Derrick Willies was thrust into the spotlight against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5, catching 3 passes for 61 yards. Many receivers had their moments last year under Baker Mayfield, and Ratley’s came in Week 6 against the Chargers, when in his first game seeing action, he started and caught 6 passes for 82 yards. Ratley is in a crowded field of players trying to stand out as receiver depth, but could be a practice squad candidate if the team wants to continue developing him. A converted college quarterback, Jackson needed more film last year to impress teams for a shot at the NFL, and The Spring League offered him that: Jackson spent most of the season on the Browns’ practice squad in 2018, so with him trying to use that time to be a more polished receiver, let’s see what type of skill he brings to the table in 2019.

OBJ highlighted in GQ Magazine article

The Browns’ wide receiver delves into music, his attitude, fashion, his new Rolls-Royce, the trade that unexpectedly sent him from the hustle and bustle of the advertising capital of the world, New York City, to middle America and Cleveland. I don’t read too much into the signs and all that stuff, but somebody sent me a lot of stuff during that time about what I was going through and how I was feeling a shift, and I was just so ready for Him to take me, and then it happened. What’s one thing you’re going to do differently in Cleveland than you did in New York? If I’m going to be real and it’s going to get turned and taken, then I’m just here to talk about football.

Duke Johnson’s agent in Cleveland Tuesday to discuss his client’s trade request

Drew Rosenhaus, the new agent of Cleveland Browns running back Duke Johnson Jr., flew into Cleveland on Tuesday in order to inquire with management why his client remains a member of the Browns. Johnson has stated that he wishes to be traded to a club that will use his skill set, and would prefer it happen prior to the season so that he can become acclimated to his new team’s offensive playbook, system and coaching staff. The running back has also said that if indeed the Browns are ultimately going to trade him because of running back Kareem Hunt - who will not become available until after the first eight games due to a suspension - that he wants to be traded now instead of later. Another obstacle for the Browns is the fact that Johnson inked a three-year contract extension last year for $15.61 million, with $7.75 million of that guaranteed.

Browns sign center Lo Falemaka

An undrafted free agent, the 6-foot-5 and 303-pound Falemaka played collegiately at Utah, where he made 22 starts in 35 career games. He played the first two games of the 2015 season but missed the remainder of the year after being shot during a dispute at a house party. According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Falemaka was trying to help a woman keep the suspects from joining the party when he was shot. He returned in 2016 and played in 10 games, but would go on to suffer injuries to both his knees and have an appendectomy before his college career came to a close.
