And what the Speaker Series has tried to do is create this intimate portrait with people in the LGBTQ community who, even though they’re celebrities, they’re on social media and we see aspects of their lives every day. It’s also a reminder to the community that even though we’ve come far in our rights and legislation, that there’s still work to be done. And I feel like it’s honored and celebrated throughout [Chicago House] because we are all LGBTQ affirming people who have been looking for a home much like our clients. So how do you find these speakers and what’s the process like for finding people to come talk to the community here?
But for now, let’s get to know this truly wonderful human being and hear her story. During Black History Month I wear black EVERYDAY (partially because I use to work at David’s Bridal and now have a ridiculous amount of black clothes). My weight makes me feel stronger because I’m no longer easily moved. My clothes, that were once decoration, almost feel like suit and armor.
The industry puts so much emphasis on why it’s important to have a big following and doesn’t look to what us smaller guys are trying to say so someone with 100k who doesn’t add anything to the conversation gets attention while I’m sitting here at 4k trying so damn hard to speak to my queer femmes I’m not saying you have to take every small guy seriously and there are certainly some small fish who make demands of the big fish. * I have a small instagram following because despite doing this for four years, it’s hard out here. * I have a small instagram following but that shouldn’t ever in any way negate my worth and if that’s all you’re basing me off of then you’re not worth my time anyway
Living a nomadic lifestyle as an almost-famous travel writer with a second book deal in the works, Fred’s living the proverbial dream, but something is still missing no matter where he goes. The creators came to me, thanks to past Fashinable Femme Cat, asking me to share this awesome project with you. As casting happens, we’re going to feature some of the queer femme characters in Fashionably Femme posts to get you even more jazzed about the project. There’s a little rush – the campaign ends on September 7th, but I know we can help them rock this campaign to the end and get the project live and rocking!
