If you’ve hung around here for a while, you’ve probably read one of these round ups of ethical clothing or home goods before. They’re my absolute favorite because I get to share some fair trade and ethical brands that are making an actual impact in the world
It’s been several years back now since I started choosing a word for the year. Recently, I asked on Instagram if folks were over all of the New Year’s resolutions and choosing a word and vision casting and all the things. Here’s more about last year’s word, & some older words here, here, and here. When I did that this year, I came up with a word that I thought was “it”, but over the past week, the Lord has laid another word on my heart, so, even though it isn’t what came up in my goal setting, I’m going with it!

As our family has begun a new journey towards wellness and slowly switching over some toxic products in the house, coming up with a DIY glass cleaner was top of the list for me. Typical glass cleaner can include the ingredients: ammonia (skin, throat, lungs, and eye irritant), butyl cellosolve/glycol ether (has been linked to anemia, liver and kidney damage), & phthalates (linked to lots of yucky stuff, including increased asthma in kiddos). Here’s the really good news: this is one of cheapest and SIMPLEST ditch and switches you can make to easily remove some toxic cleaning chemicals from your home! I use a 16 oz glass spray bottle, & usually just fill it half way at a time: * 3-4 drops lemon or citrus essential oil (both come in the yl starter kit! ; optional to help cut the vinegar smell! )
