So this Monday we decided to go to All Bar One for dinner as I had seen o many Instagram posts they had some good vegan options and I had just signed up their app and saw I has a free G and T voucher and that just sold it to me. It was under 300 calories with chargrilled brocolli, butternut squash, aubergine, mushroom, peppers and nigella seeds in a fantastic sesame and miso sauce that was rich with umami flavours and so moreish all topped with a rice noodle cracker that looked so aesthically pleasing. For dessert I had Raspberry & coconut sorbets, which I wouldn’t usually go for as I have had my fair share of the only vegan desserts in restaurants being vegan but they had sold out of their banana dessert and I actually enjoyed it to finish the meal after such bold flavours in the main dish. The staff were very friendly but I do have to say the one negative was the waiting time for service and when it came to paying the bill we waited for a good while before we went up to the bar and asked if we could pay there to speed up the process.
Back in January, I went to The Mayfair Chippy for my Dad’s birthday meal and would you Adam and Eve it At this point I wasn’t quite sure who’s birthday The staff were really friendly and the food was delicious, they use fried jack fruit and tofu to make the ‘fish’ with lemon to give a great flavour. I would highly recommend this place if you are craving a chip tea the Vegan Classic is about £17
The Eurostar was a great way to travel as we arrived in Amsterdam Centraal station and stayed in Naarden Bussum a very nice town about 20 minutes outside of Amsterdam. We have always found it really easy to eat out in Amsterdam but this time as we had a full equipt kichen in our apartment, we went food shopping and as was very happy when we found lots of vegan products redily available in most supermarkets. We often end up bringing something new to try ‘home’, thought with the best designs in the world to take our new bought tasty goods back to the UK, we have not yet managed to not eat everything that same day. Plant Based Pooh Bear chose to eat the Daddy McChik’n which is a decadent burger compiled of two vegan ‘chicken’ patties, cheddar cheese, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pickles and fried onions, all topped off with their ‘Daddy’ sauce.
A few weeks ago we went to see The Philharmonic Orchestra at The Royal Festival hall and before the concert we went to dinner at The Green Room. The lovely waitress presented us with the menu and here is where I started to get a bit greedy… I saw that they had a delicious burger and dessert, which initially I thought would be enough For mains we both chose the burger Teriyaki vegan burger, it was the best burger I have ever had – period. Which is why I got extra greedy in The Green Room as they had Sticky Toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream, now I don’t know about you but that was something I could not ignore on the menu and HALLELUJAH –
