Hiking To Twin Peaks

This hike begins from the Mt Waterman trailhead across Buckhorn Day Use Area in the Angeles National Forest. After crossing the HWY 2, start the hike via the fire road behind the gate and keep your eyes open for a weathered sign for Mt Waterman Loop to your left in the first 0.1 miles. Speaking of sap, I found sap and small debris stuck on the bottom of Xena’s paws after the hike. When we were back at the Mt. Waterman junction and taking a short break, I was laughing and pointing out that Xena’s been hiking last two miles with a broken branch stuck in the pack.

Robbers Roost Trail in Arizona

Although you don’t need a 4×4, I wouldn’t recommend this hike if you have a low clearance vehicle. Robbers Roost Trail is an out and back trail in the Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness located 20 miles northwest of Sedona, Arizona. This trail isn’t marked well so it would’ve been challenging if we could not make out the trail in the snow. Now, I don’t know why she has to stand on the edge to enjoy the view, but I try not to focus on that while we adventure for my faint heart but more importantly, not to break her adventurous spirit.

Chasing Wildflowers

To start off, National Parks and California State Parks don’t allow dogs on the trails. 😉 Chances are the most popular locations either don’t allow dogs or enforce the leash rule at all times. Be willing to drive a distance for isolated locations You can research online the wildflower sighting reports to find slightly off the beaten paths. I skip the national parks and state parks from the report and go straight to the parks and trails I’ve never heard of before.
