I've travelled to France 37 times and have had some unique experiences to share that are not often written about in guide books. Hence, my website.
Along the route you will pass Port-Miou, which is one of the first stops (Calanque de Port-Miou) when you hike the 3 Calanques. The show tells the story of the most famous and last Queen of France, Marie-Antoinette, who was married to King Louis XVI of France. As the French Revolution began, she and her family were finally arrested in 1789 and imprisoned in La Conciergerie in Paris before being executed by guillotine at the Place de la Révolution (now Place de la Concorde) on October 16, 1793. [Her husband Louis XVI had been executed months earlier, on January 21, 1793]. The Queen’s life story is told with a light show and visuals that are truly impressive. Marie-Antoinette’s life story is presented with music by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and other famous composers and the commentary is done in French by Stephane Bern.
A visit to Brittany might convince you once you see all the Carnac alignments, megalithic stones in lines or rows that cover a 4 km area in southern Brittany. According to the Carnac Tourism website, over 3000 menhirs were set up in the neolithic period, between 5000 and 2000 BC in alignment. I highly suggest visiting the Carnac tourist office in the main town and picking up the free Carnac stones map as it indicates all the different areas and types of stones you can see. These are called dolmens and they are funeral tombs • contains 555 stones in 13 rows and is considered the best preserved site • the highest stone, “Géant du Mario”, is located here When You Are Tired Of The Standing Stones Of Carnac Carnac is a seaside resort in Brittany, France and it is worth visiting and when you get tired of the prehistoric stuff, consider more modern-day pleasures such as visiting the beach, doing some water sports, taking a boat tour to the Morbihan islands, or going to the spa.
