We were not planning on moving, but here we are, and this house needs our magic touch to take it from “house” to “home.”We are going room by room, but also working on major projects and will look at fine details down the road. We have a baby on the way, and there are definitely “priorities” that take precedence over the smaller things!Speaking of small– the bathroom right off of the master bedroom is pretty small itself. Keeping it simple and high in contrast really helped to outline the space and create a depth perception so the walls didn’t feel like they were closing in on us!This post contains affiliate links. sold the old bathroom vanity and light for $150, so in the end we paid $320 plus some additional supplies that are being used throughout the home as we continue the remodeling process!
Breaking things down and having smaller short term to do lists helped me stay focused and get more accomplished which is obviously very important as a mother when you have limited time at your disposal!Your game plan also needs to include the things that you will ask for help with. but I knew I had to be flexible and remember that she was confused and a little overwhelmed at times too!A trick that I learned was to give her a pile of things that didn’t actually need to be packed right away and a box. We honestly did not feel like we needed to much help with Raylan during the packing and moving process. Starting the packing process early on and creating a game plan ahead of time helped me to stay on top of things in allowed me to rest when I needed it, take breaks when my little one needed me, and take the added stress of rushing through the process off of my shoulders.
Today was HARD. I felt like a zombie. Raelynn needed so much from me but I felt like I had so little to give. I decided to take a nap, and as soon as I laid my head down, Raelynn woke up from hers and put that idea to rest real quick— pun intended. Motherhood got the best of me today, but thank God for his goodness and His grace. I could wallow in the “I am the worst mom,” thoughts, but every time I went there, I realized my daughter was crying out for me, looking past mama’s “bad day,” and instead seeing my best qualities. Isn’t that amazing? The way our children view us? That moments after a mistake, they are quick to forgive and eager to cuddle? If that isn’t one of the best representations of God’s love for us, I don’t know what is. Even on the days when motherhood feels like it’s swallowing me whole, I am so grateful for that very same role that reminds me of who God called me to be. Instead of allowing myself to conjure up the worst version of myself in my head, I am leaning in to who the Lord says I am, and hanging onto the person my daughter sees me to be. Even when you’re tired, even when you’re weary, even when you act out of frustration over love, YOU are loved. You are a good mom. “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion....” Isaiah 30:18
Note to Self: YOU’RE A GOOD MOM. (Ad) Refueling, and refocusing this morning with @premierprotein and my new devo, and boy did I need both. “You’re a good mom.” This is something I have had to repeat to myself over and over again lately. I have had to remind myself that, even when Raelynn is going through transitions and challenges, that I am still a good mom. Even when I feel like I’m not as peaceful or patient with her, I am still a good mom. I have to ask myself, “What is a good mom?”, and more importantly, “Who’s standards am I living up to?” “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23 CAN I GET AN AMEN? As I read this over and over again, I am reminded that just as quickly as Raelynn forgets my mistakes and cuddles up to me for a warm hug, the Lord has new morning mercies and SO MUCH GRACE for me along the way. If you’re feeling like you’ve been failing— off routine, off balance, less patient, less productive- understand that we have all had a hard year. We all have different standards and expectations to live up to at work, at home, and even with family and friends, but at the end of the day, living up to the Lord’s standards, and accepting the grace He has for us, is more important than all the rest. #thegoodmommovement #premierself
FAITH OR FEAR? Which one are you choosing to put first today? Just like God is unseen and there are so many unknowns, tomorrow holds the same. We don’t know what it will look like. We don’t know exactly what will happen. So why do we choose to put more emphasis on the latter? If both bring some unknown, and lots of unseen, why can’t our emphasis be FAITH over FEAR? God’s word tells us time and time again that he knows the plans he has for us. So we can sit here and think up 100 different scenarios that will never happen, or we can trust God with the one scenario that he has planned out for us already. Doesn’t that bring you so much more peace? Today I am challenging you to set aside your worry. Put aside your fear and your stress over tomorrow and let God handle it. I know so many of us are in a season of worry, and anxiety feels high. Guess what? THAT’S NORMAL with all the change and trials that 2020 has handed us. When we found out we were expecting this time, we decided it would be best to transition Raelynn to the larger bedroom, and keep the small room as the nursery. While we know that Zeke won’t be in his crib immediately, we know that his presence will be a transition enough for Raelynn so we decided to start small changes now to prepare for the big change ahead. It was a dark grey and took away the feminine feel of the room, so I decided to do wood paneling on the bottom and wallpaper on the top.

WE DID IT! Raelynn’s new room revamp is COMPLETE 🙏🏻 • Head to stories to hear me talk about all the details and see a little work in progress. I am so excited that this is done and all we have to do is hang her room darkening curtains so that she can sleep peacefully here this weekend. • I talked previously about how we are doing one transition at a time and making sure they are each slow in nature as we prepare for two under two! I love soaking up the moments that each transition brings, even if it means a “last” and that our baby is no longer the babiest. • Do you get excited to watch your kids grow, but sad at the same time that they are getting so big so fast? Is there a happy medium? 😂
