At La Vida Global we discover the World's best road trips (and a few alternatives) and the amazing plazes to find along the way.
A day after having our minds blown by the enormity and beauty of Arches NP, our next stop was nearby Canyonlands. 🚙 And if we thought the highlights of this roadtrip were behind us, man were we wrong! 🌵 Canyonlands is the most diverse National Park we visited, and if it isn't already part of your next roadtrip plan... change your plan! Oh... I thought the only thing missing was a cowboy. So I found this guy and now the scene is complete.
Of all the countries we have visited together vthere is only one than keeps drawing us back time after time... 🇲🇽 Mexico 🌮 And our top 5 reasons you must see Mexico are: 1️⃣ The people are some of the friendliest anywhere in the world. 2️⃣ The food is so healthy, so incredibly delicious, and just ridiculously cheap. And so much better than the "Mexican" food in your country. 3️⃣ History you can literally touch and traditions that have stood the test of time. 4️⃣ Stunning towns full of life and colour. And so much character you can't help but be captivated by. 5️⃣ Cenotes... everyone should swim in pristine water inside a cave at least once in their lives. Which country keeps you wanting to return?
This month marks 30 years as a travelling married couple (with junior in tow for some of those years). 👫 🚗 That's a lot of flights and a lot of miles that we have driven around the world. And hopefully we are only about halfway through our adventures. Here are our top 5 tips we have gathered from our time together on the road. 1️⃣ Make sure you both choose a few things to do on your trip that you absolutely must do. For the other person, just go along whether you think you will like it of not. You never know, something that sounds crappy may surprise you. 2️⃣ Make sure you schedule some down time. This may be time together to recharge or a break from each other. It can be tough being together 24/7 when travelling. 3️⃣ Have a slush fund in your budget that you can use if something unexpectedly interesting comes up. Maybe an amazing restaurant that you never knew about or a once in a lifetime experience. Sometimes it's OK to bust the budget. 4️⃣ Be flexible. Just because something was on your travel schedule doesn't mean it's set in stone. If one of you just doesn't feel up to doing something, don't feel like you have to. Some of the best things we have ever found were because we changed our plans at the last minute. 5️⃣ Truly live every moment together and try to see everything through their eyes as well. Travel is so much richer when you have someone to share the experiences with. What is your top tip for travelling with your partner?
MOAB MUST DO : 1️⃣ Arches National Park the must do place for catching epic sunsets. 2️⃣ Canyonlands National Park the must do place for experiencing the iconic scenery that the Southwest is famous for. 3️⃣ Newspaper Rock State Historic Monument the must do place for getting your ancient history fix 4️⃣ Adventure Inn at Moab the must do place to spend the nights in Moab and one of the best value hotels of our entire roadtrip. 5️⃣ Milt's Stop and Eat the must do cheap food stop in Moab. Anytime we have friends visit from overseas, we love to show them our local @australia highlights and now that we have created it into its own route on #RoadtripsbyTomTom it means we can with you too! #ad ❤️ So, next time you are heading to Australia and wanting to see more than Sydney, head a couple of hours north to Newcastle where you'll find our best beaches, vineyards, lakes, and bays #MyOzRoadtrip #TomTomDrivers - What is the best thing about your hometown?
Can you believe this beautiful part of @australia is only 2 hours north of Sydney?! #sponsor 😍 The crazy thing is, I have lived my whole life even closer to here and didn't even know it existed until I set out on a recent road trip around my local area that you can check out on #RoadtripsbyTomTom . 🚙 It may take a bit of effort to get to the top of Mt Tomaree lookout but I am sure you would agree, the views are absolutely worth it! @tomtomdriver #MyOzRoadtrip #TomTomdrivers
We have road tripped over 30,000 kms in over a dozen countries overseas and always relied on our TomTom GPS to get us where we wanted to go. #sponsor 🚙 So when I found out the new TomTom GO Supreme has a new feature specifically for road trippers, I couldn't wait to get my hands on one. And it turns out the new feature is even better than I hoped. 🤩 Looking forward to the next 30,000 kms with @tomtomdrivers ! #MyOzRoadtrip #TomTomDrivers #RoadtripbyTomTom
Can you believe a lot of visitors to South America bypass this place as they hurry from Cusco to Machu Picchu? Ollantaytambo is the final train stop before the Wonder of the World but we found it to be the perfect place to get into the Inca spirit. And this is yet another photo where I do my best Where's Wally impression! Read the full story of the South America trip that changed our minds about group tours, our @peregrineadventures tour in our NEW BLOG POST!
I found myself in the position of checking another high ranking item off my travel bucketlist, and one that goes hand in hand with a trip to Machu Picchu. I was walking on the famous floating islands, home to the Uros people, and what a weird sensation it is, almost like walking across a trampoline as the ground below you compresses and then rebounds... 🌏 Read the full story of our bucket list trip taking on our first ever @peregrineadventures tour in our NEW BLOG POST!
Dean (me, hello 👋🏼) may do all the planning and booking of our trips but once we are away, as you can see, Pauline is the one that takes the lead. She is the ray of extraverted sunshine, the perfect balance to my introverted self. 🌞 We know we are not your typical instagrammers but we couldn't help but recreate these surprisingly uncomfortable #instacouple trends on some of our recent travels. Get ready for a hilarious series coming your way 💑 Are we doing this #followmeto thing right?
Is it just me or does the area around your home seem boring compared to the amazing things the rest of the world has to offer? 🌏 It wasn't until I started hearing from other travel bloggers how lucky I was to live in Australia's Hunter Valley that I started to have a closer look at what is on offer. I am here a lot more than I am away travelling so it was worth a try. 📷 I wanted to try some long exposure photography on some waterfalls and expected a long drive to find anything decent, so imagine my surprise when I found this place an hour away, so halfway between my home and Sydney. Maybe all the best places aren't always a flight away.
Believe it or not, this is Christmas Day in the Austrian Alps, on what was supposed to be our dream White Christmas Road Trip. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had a different plan. ☃️ The hills should not only be "alive with the sound of music" but also be covered in deep snow, and we should be gliding along in a two-horse open sleigh. Well. we did ride the sleigh but along the road with the wheels down, not what I had in mind but still pretty special. 🏡 Have you had any travel experiences that did not go to plan but you still made the most of your day?
