Farmhouse Made is my blog where I show y'all how we're turning our builder-basic homestead into an amazing farmhouse, with our 3 adorable kiddos.
Temperatures have finally been high enough for a few weeks for us to get outside, clean out the gardens, transplant my seedlings under the grow light, and start solidifying our plan of attack for planter ideas out on the porch and back deck, as well as the beds for the micro farm. The porch and deck planters, and the window boxes on the kids’ play set and kitchen windows are where my good intentions of being a good steward of flowers go to die. I say – hanging baskets of trailing vines and flowers, and 2 bigger planters of flowers by my door, and other decor fairly simple, low maintenance, and low-key. I’ve been hunting for inspiration for planter ideas, deck planters, and hanging basket ideas, and I’ve gotten a handful for you, as well as Fast Fix Friday!
This wall is the only real big wall, so I felt like it needed a little something. While purchasing baskets, I ran into a piece of wall art I liked, but wasn’t wanting to pay all the many dollars, and I didn’t quite like the font, or the color, but the vibe was my jam. This diy alphabet wall art is made with: drop cloth (cut this to fit your space; mine is about 40″ x 24″) Once your letters are ironed (or dry), and your furring strips are dry, get your hot glue and hot glue the fabric to the back of the wood, leaving an overhang on the edges.
The list of supplies for your DIY grow light is small: 1 shop light 1 – 1″ x 10′ PVC pipe (big box stores are your best bet! ) 2 – 1″ 90-degree fittings 2 – 1″ T fittings 1 can PVC cement, if you want this to be ultra super beyond engineered – skip this if you’d like to take your set up apart in the off-season for storage. miter saw, pipe cutter, or hack saw PVC Cut List for 1 set-up, which will be enough for 1-2 flats of seed starters: 1 – 3 1/2′ (crossbar, where the light will hang) MY GIRLS, THE PURPLE HYDRANGEA AND 1915 HOUSE, AND I GET TOGETHER AND BRING YOU
We made this simple DIY macrame plant hanger for my daughter’s bedroom in about 20 minutes… A plant hanger has a few basic parts – a knot or ring at the top, the strings, the basket-looking part where the plant goes, and the knot under the plant. Your supplies at minimum are a plant hook for your ceiling, macrame cord, scissors, a plant, beads if you like, a stool or step ladder, and a good attitude. After you have installed your plant hook where you’d like it, and have your plant ready and waiting for a new home…
