The @okhumane Yule Log is an hour-long video featuring OK Humane rescue animals playing in front of a festively decorated fireplace. This visual album is set to the musical stylings of generous musicians who have donated songs to support the cause. It can be streamed for free at okhumaneyulelog.com or on OK Humane’s YouTube Channel (linked on the website). While no donation is required for access, monetary gifts are greatly appreciated (see link to donate on the website). All of the cats and dogs in the Yule Log video were able to live happy, healthy lives because of community support. Like all organizations, the Oklahoma Humane Society has not been immune to the challenges 2020 has presented. A month ago today, on April 3 my Mimi went to be with the Lord. She joined all of heaven rejoicing, and is dancing and singing. Here’s a tiny piece of my heart serenaded by Marcia Hart herself on piano and vocals. 🎹 🎶 While it is a loss, it’s a heavenly gain. It’s recently been a very beautiful yet tender time. There have been some special moments I’ll forever treasure and testify to. Honestly, there has been too much I have wanted to say. Too much I’d love to share about this woman - a grandmother I call “mimi”. We had a special connection I didn’t have with anyone else, being that our bond was through the language of music. I will continue to praise and worship through song, and am humbled to do my best to carry out a portion of the legacy of love (to the fullest) during my time on earth. I miss her greatly. I especially miss singing with her, spending time with her and hearing her stories. Some of my best memories were going to visit her out of town for days at a time, playing games like UNO, staying the night with her at one of her resorts, singing with her in the piano lounge, singing as a family at one of her showcases or in church. I look forward to talking more about her, sharing more memories, and learning more about the life she lived here, as we continue to reminisce as a family. The songs “This World is Not My Home” and “When We All Get to Heaven” cross my heart as I write this. Tears of joy fill my eyes knowing she is alive, whole, healed, and now living her best life, fulfilling her eternal purpose in heaven. Today May 3 also happens to be my grandpas bday (on the other side of the family). So… As we approach Mother’s Day, it is with many tears and a heavy heart that I honor and celebrate Mimi, not just today but every day. // Hebrews 11:40
