We are Cindy and Simon, the two travelholics behind Free Two Roam. We recently decided that part time travel was no longer for us and decided it was time to leave our jobs, sell our belongings and roam the world! So far between us we’ve visited 47 countries, but our list of places to visit keeps getting longer and longer. So why don’t you come and journey along with us.
There aren’t too many places in the world where you can see glow worms, but you can on Tamborine Mountain, thanks to a conservation initiative located in the grounds of the Cedar Creek Estate. Walk up and down the Gallery Walk, taking time along the way to check out all the little shops that line it. Mountain Sanctuary B&B offers accommodation in Mount Tamborine, just a 7-minute stroll from the wineries and cafes along Gallery Walk. The Polish Place offers award-winning, self-contained chalets, set on the escarpment of Tamborine Mountain, with 180-degree views facing out towards The Great Dividing Range.
3- Take a trip on the tourist drive 33 If you are driving from Sydney, why not take a scenic drive to the Hunter Valley through the beautiful New South Wales countryside? The Tourist Drive 33 stretches from the Peats Ridge exit on the M1 near Sydney, to Branxton in the heart of wine country, along the historic Great North Road. The small town of Kurri Kurri is worth the detour because of the many murals that are scattered all over the town centre and in the neighbouring countryside. It’s also probably the first thing you’ll see when you reach the Kurri Kurri town centre.
Home to over 150 wineries, the Hunter Valley is Australia’s oldest wine region. Piggs Peake Winery sources its grapes from a wide variety of places (Moree, Mudgee, Orange, Young, McLaren Vale and the Hunter Valley), to make a range of wines that are well outside of the box! Tyrrell’s is one of Australia’s oldest family-owned wineries. unless it’s truly awful of course, but we definitely didn’t taste any bad wines in the Hunter Valley.
Who wouldn’t love rolling green hills, spectacular views all around, captivating wilderness, sparkling rivers and a land shared between humans and a huge amount of wildlife? The historic Hampden Bridge is a single span, sandstone bridge spanning the Kangaroo River. On its southern side, you can walk down under the bridge to get great views of the sheer sandstone cliffs that line the Kangaroo River. The river views along the way were truly spectacular, especially since it really felt like we were the only people around – just us and the wildlife.
