It’s been a while since I’ve shared anything here ... I don’t think I’ve ever been so busy in my life! It sounds strange to say with covid and 2020 being the year it is, but it’s absolutely true. 2020 has been a wild year and for my entrepreneurship it has really skyrocketed. (And to be frank, social media doesn’t have a great return so this is first to go. It costs way more time than it gives back. But I digress ...) . There have been a lot of times I’ve doubted my career choices. “If I’d just stayed at that job I hated” or “if I’d just do a 9-5 job” ... the big IF. But 2020 has shown life is full of uncertainty and certainly the world is less stable than the fictions we’ve created. For me, 2020 has been validation of the dreams and hard work and leaps of faith for not staying in the rat race and pursuing my own path, even if it’s “weird” to the rest of the world. Maybe things won’t work out, but to see others seek my skills out without even an elevator pitch is incredible. It’s the first time I think to myself, “hey, maybe I’m doing something right.” . Plus, my years of reading and watching webinars and evaluating what I would do differently in businesses has finally reached a point of reality. In other words, I can read all day long, but it hasn’t really lodged into my brain until this year. All the time spent learning is finally clicking and coming together. For my interior design side, someone reached out to me and it’s been a real game changer. Anyways, this long post is to remind you to chase your dreams. There’s no guarantee it will work, but you’re guaranteed to fail if you never try. (Lol it’s cheesy, but true.) ✌️ . Also, when will the vintage shop be up? GREAT question. Hi world! We are the proud owners of our rescue pup: Loki. We’ve had him for two weeks ago as of today. Also, yes, we almost named him Scooby because he looks like so much like him. (We had to get the latest @barkbox as a result, of course.) 2020 has been a strange and terrible and wonderful year, all in one. This is definitely one of the best things this year though 😉

As CA sits in flames, I can’t help but think about the future. How can we prevent fire season from starting earlier? What are we doing that needs to change? Where can these people go in a state of emergency during a pandemic? How can we ensure they stay safe and healthy? Who can make sure people aren’t trapped inside during massive heat waves without any form of AC? What can we do to improve air quality? WHAT CAN WE DO to make changes for tomorrow? . People often find interior design frivolous. And sometimes, it is. It’s fun and pretty and creative — it’s a large reason why I love it! On a deeper level, it is so much more. A true interior designer has been trained to specify pieces that are flame resistant or have renewable characteristics. We can make sure the buildings of tomorrow are built to not only last, but give future generations a chance. We can ensure the way something is built improves air quality, cleans easily (hello, COVID), and resists fire better. We can help the world be a better, healthier place. I think we can do our part wherever we are, but when it’s in line with something you are passionate about, there are no limits to what we can do. . This world needs so much prayer — and action. 🤍 (This was taken in Santa Cruz pre-fires obviously. First fun, non-essential outing since covid exactly a month ago today!)

I love a vintage table with some mismatched chairs 😍 what about you??? If you follow my stories, you’ve probably already seen this little setup. I know this look isn’t for everyone, but I love it and it’s helped immensely with having a place to work/do homework! (I just need to get stuff off the floor and hang things now ...) . When I found the table on @facebookmarketplace I knew I had to have it because of its legs. (Swipe right to see the legs of the table, which reminds me of Parisian cafe tables!) ☕️ After finding the table, I wanted to create the carefully gathered look of a classic Parisian apartment, where the richness of older pieces are celebrated. I love pieces with character and a history, plus it’s more sustainable. From there, I just collected chairs I found online. . Project 1 is done! First official mood board for one of my interior design classes. I feel like it will be fun to share here and then look back on it someday. 🤍 Making this board took me back to my expository speech on the Eiffel Tower back in high school. I got 8th place in nationals despite being a terrible student (I wasn’t even memorized for the first tournament! Lol). Anyways, my nerdy self had to have boards like this for the Eiffel Tower. 🤓 I’m sure the boards are long gone by now, but they were so pretty. If you don’t know the history of the Eiffel Tower, you should check it out. It’s actually fascinating (and why it was originally a 30 min speech instead of 10 when I first wrote it lol). Anyways, I guess my love of Paris from years and years ago is still paying off. 🥰

Picked up this little chair that reminds me of a library chair in SF today! (More in stories.) Making lots of trips lately to do social distance pickups. Honestly, the stuff locally just isn’t super great normally, while SF has more unique pieces. I love items that tell a story and have a bit of history to them. Who made it? Where did it come from? Has it always been in CA? Was it a library chair? A school chair? I don’t really know, but that’s kind of the fun of it, isn’t it? ✨

Do you have a place you keep your fresh masks? Mine is in this little basket. I’d planned on incorporating it into a basket wall of sorts back in Dallas, but it never happened. 🤷‍♀️ I’m quite happy it’s turned into the official clean mask holder because it’s the perfect size! 😷

I don’t normally like to share things until they’re already done. That way, if I fail, nobody has to know! 🤷‍♀️ I’m aware this is probably not the healthiest thing to do, but I know I’m not the only one that does this (right? Lol). With that in mind, I want to share some news: I’m a student again! 🤓 I’m not smart by any means, but I do love to learn. It’s been several years since I graduated from university with an English degree, so I was a little apprehensive about starting again, but really excited at the same time. Today went well; it’s the computer program that is going to be hard I think ... . On an unrelated (but kind of related) note: we finally have blackout curtains!!! We moved here in June, so we’ve been waking up with the sun (and then promptly trying to go back to sleep) since we moved in. I got a great deal on these @westelm curtains and we finally slept in today without waking up several times! ☀️ You guys — the little things ARE the big things! . Next up: new duvet because ours is old and sad now 😂

And in our COVID world, it seems like there are never enough cleaning products to go around. I am usually hesitant to sign up for any subscriptions, but decided it was too good of a deal to pass up. I feel like we were babies, especially with this pandemic because it feels like a lifetime ago. Do you feel like you’ve grown a lot recently? What would you tell yourself if you could jump back in time for 5 min? I see this photo and think, “Wow, we have grown and been through so much since this was taken!” I smile fondly at all that has been accomplished, big and small over the years. . Instagram always sparks my writing and it’s always oddly deep on some level lol. Anyways, we have had a lazy Saturday morning paired with @johnnysdonuts_dublin which I’m totally okay with since I typically work most of the weekend. Over the weekend, I picked up this little display shelving unit in SF. In my excitement to no longer have all the vintage items on the floor — like they have been since we moved in lol — I shared my new shelving unit. Surprisingly, I got all this feedback about how much you liked the styling! So thank you to everyone who reached out 🤍🤍 I wasn’t expecting it at all. I was honestly just excited to share my new find! And I only styled it because I knew I’d see it everyday and it would bother me if it was messy because I’m extra like that haha. All that to say ... thank you for the kind words. 🤍 . Also, all items in this photo will be in the vintage shop! I’m waiting on paperwork to go through to officially sell ... COVID has delayed things a bit ... Feeling nostalgic tonight. Watched a movie on @disneyplus and also recently went through the entire Indiana Jones series. Looking at these photos and videos makes me feel like we were in another era. So strange and lovely and thankful for the good times, but missing Disneyland so much these days ✨ here are some videos/photos from a 2017 trip I took with my husband. I love when art happens in the middle of everyday life. I got this chair when I was living in Dallas. When I brought it back from my parents’ house, I left it by the front door and strew my jean jacket and purse on it. Somehow, it feels like art; it’s a little unintentional beauty in an uneventful moment. I love finding the beauty in daily life. We are good about documenting important things, such as weddings, but what about the small moments we skip without a second thought? Random musings for the day. . Should I make a new hashtag of #unexpectedvignette? Because I’m into it 😅

Things have been a bit quiet here. My grandpa passed away on Tuesday. Even though I knew it was coming, it’s still sad to lose such a genuinely wonderful person. It’s weird to think I won’t hear his voice anymore or smell his scent or laugh at his jokes. I’m wearing my grandma’s earrings today and somehow it makes me feel closer to them. I’m a fairly minimal person, but I think there are definitely some things worth keeping. I have a Snoopy mug from his place that says, “It’s going to be a good day!” and I feel that sums him up pretty well. Anyways, life is so full of things we can never plan for. As a planner, that’s kind of hard to accept ... Not sure what I’m trying to say here, but it’s weird and sad to lose loved ones. I do believe, however, that I will see them both in heaven someday, which is the hope I can rely on today 🤍
