7 years ago I left small-town Pennsylvania to backpack Central America and I've never looked back. I've been on the road since, putting down roots in Costa Rica for 5 years before moving on to new adventures. I am a full-time digital nomad and writer.
On Sky vs World, I share travel tips and guides for solo travelers, with a particular emphasis on plus size travel, history, culture, food, and Latin America. I've worked with several tourism boards in the past, including Destination Gettysburg, Visit Pittsburgh, Louisiana Northshore and more.
Easy Party Cocktails is a food blog focused on cocktails and boozy treats. Several posts have gone viral and it currently reaches over 140,000 views per month on Pinterest.
I am looking to partner with destinations, hotels, and brands that offer inclusivity with an emphasis on solo travel, as well as food and liquor brands.
In addition to these two blogs, I am a freelance writer and SEO specialist. I am also able to create SEO-optimized content for the brand's website in addition to mine.
I love solo travel because I can do what I want to do, when I want to do it. However, some of my best travel memories – of walking along the windy beach on Chincoteague Island trying to find the infamous ponies, of catching the most beautiful sunset possible over San Juan del Sur, among others – are from the few trips I took with friends. We know each other well enough to know when to back off, we typically want the same things out of a trip, and our travel styles compliment each other. When you’re traveling with a friend for the first time or about to embark on a long trip with a good friend, here are some suggestions for keeping the trip as stress and drama free as possible:
I knew I wanted to stay in a hotel near the SJO airport in Alajuela instead of downtown San Jose, preferably one that offered transportation to the airport. After the best two nights I’ve ever spent in a hotel, I can say that Adventure Inn is definitely the best hotel near the SJO airport. The ease of the shuttle and the fact that it was included in my stay is very high on the list of reasons why I think Adventure Inn is the best hotel near the SJO airport. The staff, again, go above and beyond to offer any information I may need during my stay, providing me with a breakfast pass for the next morning and inquiring about my plans on my last morning to ensure that my shuttle to the airport is properly booked.
In fact, I spent the majority of my time in Playas del Coco with a few trips to explore other regions of Costa Rica, like Bribri and Puerto Viejo, a weekend jaunt to San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, and two weeks in Bocas del Toro, Panama. However, as much as I enjoyed settling into Coco last year, this year I’m ready to start putting a priority on new adventures, in Costa Rica and the rest of Central America as well as (hopefully) further abroad. Though I’ve lived here for a year now, I’m sad to say I haven’t spent a ton of time exploring Costa Rica and have a habit of returning to the same places multiple times. Flights are also cheap from Costa Rica and I’ll be just across the border when I’m in Guatemala so maybe, hopefully, this can actually happen this year!
but I’m always learning more and have spent lots of time researching the HOW of learning a language and seeking out new resources. However, when you are first starting out learning a new language, accuracy is definitely not the most important thing, here’s why. So why should fluency be a focus over accuracy when first learning a new language? Not only does the repetition help you remember the new words, it is also really useful for you to get used to how you speaking your new language sounds.
