Unlike most brands that enter the market with a complete collection, Huda Beauty has kept a sense of buzz and excitement by bringing out hits like the Rose Gold palette and Liquid Mattes, but what many weren’t anticipating was the launch of a fragrance line, Kayali, within the wider Huda Beauty brand. Kayali, meaning my imagination in Arabic, was created in collaboration with Huda’s sister Mona Kattan also known as the Perfume Princess, which sounded promising to me when I first heard about the launch considering Mona I visited Selfridges on the launch of Kayali to finally experience this much anticipated collection, initially wanting Vanilla | 28 from the notes alone – an oriental blend of jasmine, Madagascan vanilla orchid, Brazilian tonka, musk, amber, patchouli and brown sugar. To conclude, I’m blown away by Elixir | 11, from its scent to the beautiful bottle it’s encased in with its gold detailing and jewelled cap.
Over three years ago I mused about the launch of Estée Lauder’s Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Makeup, but little did I know that it’d pretty much be the only foundation I’d buy for years to come. I’ve tried foundations from the likes of Cover Girl, Lancôme and The Ordinary’s latest foundation, but nothing does my skin and complexion justice quite like the Perfectionist foundation except for NARS’ Sheer Glow. As time goes on however, I’ve come to know what works for me and not venture out unless I’m truly convinced something will work, and this is especially true for foundation, for which a good one is hard to come by. To bring back the glow that this winter weather has robbed from my skin, I’ve taken to mixing the foundation with Armani’s Fluid Sheer in #3 or NARS’ 413 BLKR Illuminator.
every fragrance within my vicinity contained jasmine whether it was Tom Ford’s Jasmin Rouge or Michael Kors’ Glam Jasmine, and even the Mandara Spa Tropical Blooms Body Oil. I’ve documented my devotion to jasmine and the gravitational pull it has on me many a time, and I’ve even tried to suggest a link between assuming personality traits and jasmine, however despite these fragrances sharing a common note, I appreciate that there are differences. Below are some of the fragrances I’ve been rotating between lately: Giorgio Armani Si “Opening with notes of Sicilian bergamot, mandarin oil and liquer de cassis, it has a heart which bursts with rose de mai absolute, neroli absolute and Egyptian jasmine absolute. Then, the lush and saturated heart of precious Turkish Rose Oil and Bulgarian Rose absolute creates an enveloping narcotic haze – until a teasing bite of coffee essence cuts through the romance and awakens dervish passion.
With the exception of everything from The Ordinary, few products have impressed me this year and that’s mostly because I’ve moved away from experimenting with skincare and instead have stuck with what works. I received the Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask for my birthday and decided it’d be worth venturing out from the products I’m used to as I’ve heard raving reviews about Omorovicza. I found that the Deep Cleansing Mask either 1) brings everything to the surface 2) makes your spots vanish overnight – deciding to take a gamble by using this before an important event is at your discretion! The Ordinary has demonstrated that great skincare needn’t be expensive, and so if you’re on a budget and would like similar results consider L’Oreal Paris’ Pure Clay Detox Mask or the previously mentioned Avène mask.
