I’ve had countless conversations with other persons about how difficult it is to get to work in this area locally as all of the multinationals and other large firms already have long-standing relationships with their existing Counsel in the large firms. So I decided to try looking outside of T&T and as fate would have it, I was invited to speak at a woman’s empowerment conference in Guyana. Literally out of the blue yesterday someone contacted me on LinkedIn from Guyana in that sector and told me that he wanted to discuss an e-consultancy for my services. At the beginning of this year, I’d never have thought that I’d be a feature speaker for events – that was nowhere on my radar!

BUT he said that he could get me a 3 day stay at a resort with Disney tickets for $99 as a resort preview! At that time, I checked the rates for similar properties located near to our resort and those started at $893 plus taxes, and did not include Disney tickets. I was lucky to get buddy passes from a family member for our outbound journey (POS – MCO $125.33 for taxes), I used miles to book flights from Orlando to La Guardia ($5.60 for fees/taxes) and miles for my flight from JFK to POS ($30.60 in taxes). After attending the resort preview, I got one day Disney tickets, free passes to the onsite waterpark at the Resort, free breakfast for the rest of my stay, a free 8″ inch tablet and a contact to get tickets for Disney at a discounted price!
