Okay y’all...the results are in. 2 months already- and This little man weighs 18 pounds!! 🤯 whaaat!? I should have known when I switched him to size 4 diapers yesterday. I’ve been a little MIA the last week or so! I just wanted to take some time to clear my plate of obligations (as many as I could anyway) and really try to enjoy life and the fall weather! I’ve been reading more books, drinking plenty of pumpkin spice lattes and *trying* to enjoy the little things. This weekend I laid in the grass and looked at the clouds with my daughter. Maybe it was only for 60 seconds but still. 💕 My life is full of chaos and overwhelm. I often forget to find time for the simple things and struggle coming up for air in this sea of motherhood I’m in. But it was a good moment. In a stressful week where sometimes I cried, I sighed, I yelled, I was tired but I found a good moment. (Lets be honest I’m sure there was more than one good moment). The thing is, we have to find those good moments and grasp on to them or life is just going to run us over. I’m learning to put the phone down a little more, smile a little more, laugh a little more, say yes a little more. Today I did virtual “pe class” with my 1st grader. Let’s just say ya girl is out of shape but what did I expect? 😂 Every day I try my hardest to embrace accepting my body where it’s at and finding confidence in where I’m at right now instead of waiting for a new body or longing for an old body of mine. Am I completely happy with the extra weight I’m carrying? No but I still choose to find confidence and treat myself with care and love anyway. And that’s my challenge for you, don’t wait for the weight. Today is all we have and it’s a shame to spend our whole lives wishing for a different version of ourselves. On that note- I just started a postpartum workout plan to tighten my core and regain strength in my pelvic floor. I stocked my fridge with fruits and veggies (and also some treats) because I want to take better care of myself without going on a diet or starting a crazy insane workout routine I can’t keep up with. I’m trying to learn to eat to nourish not to lose weight and I’m trying to learn to move my body to boost my mood and honor everything my body does for me! Can you guys believe this little man is one month old already!? I’m a couple days late (what’s new?🤪) but seriously I feel like I have a 3 month old in my arms at this point with this chunky babe! He weighs over 13 pounds now which is crazy and I just had to switch him to 6 month clothes. But he’s a little squish to snuggle and that’s what I love the most! I hope when people see me in weeks or months to come, whether I lose weight or gain weight or stay exactly the same..I hope people don’t just think “what a great bounce back.” What I really want to you to know is that I’ve bounced back from hating my body, from starving my postpartum body with low calorie diets and high intensity workouts in attempts to get my body “back.” I’ve bounced back from letting people decide what a mother is supposed to look like. It’s honestly atrocious the pressure society puts on moms to “bounce back” to a body that has no trace of what we have accomplished. You just grew an entire human being in your body.
