The train from Bad Gastein was only an hour and 30 minutes (we booked it here) and you can bet that our little train lover was a happy camper. We did rent a car for the day to go to Hallstatt, but other than that we walked (there are amazing walking paths behind Haus Hirt, one of which will take you into town) or took the shuttle. The kid’s club is on the first floor, and the spa and pool are located on the second floor. The kid’s club offered a kid’s meal at 6pm
Our experience staying at a Japanese ryokan with a baby When we decided to travel to Japan, staying at a traditional ryokan was at the top of my bucket list. One of the most frequent questions I receive on the blog or from readers emails is about our experience staying at a ryokan with Milo. If you aren’t familiar, a ryokan is a traditional Japanese inn that has existed in Japan for centuries (dating back to the 700’s! ). In case you’re interested in seeing more about our trip to Japan: guide to Tokyo, traveling to Japan with a baby, our visit to Kyoto, Mount Fuji with a baby.
Salzburg is such a beautiful little city, and we had a wonderful stay before we headed south to Bad Gastein (more on that to come). we loved taking the funicular up to the fortress (we really enjoy visiting places where a gondola or funicular is necessary – so fun). The views from the top were really wonderful, and there were several vantage points with incredible views of the city. Milo loved seeing the city as we took the funicular up to the fortress!
Here is what he’s been into lately: Milo’s sleep has honestly been all over the place. He actually co-sleeps pretty well, meaning that he won’t go off and wander, and he does sleep soundly in our bed. He does sleep with a lovey, but so far hasn’t shown much interest in him. He will chat to himself a little bit and turn the light off and on (the switch is right next to his crib), but eventually he’ll just snuggle right in and drift to sleep.
