This is when camping is not always fun! Remember that post I shared when it was bucketing down outside the tent?!?!?!?! I think the tent nearly floated away!!! Puddles everywhere. It was a bit of a miserable morning to be honest. Thank goodness we changed our camping plans from the more remote National Park (Which looked amazing) to the NRMA Port Arthur. Here they are well set up for the changeable Tassie weather with multiple fire huts and a big camp kitchen. The fireplace huts were definitely well used! The pizza oven was a super addition to the outdoor kitchen space! #campingintherain #tassieweather #rainintassie #hilltribetravels #nrmaportarthur #campingislife #madeitwork #goodfacilities #gumbootsneeded #kidslovedit #freezingtassie #tassieroadtrip #thermalweather #freezingtassiewater
Another @amazingraceaustralia reference in Tassie! Guess whose house we visited?!?! We really loved the road between Hobart and Richmond. This is what we were expecting the Huon Valley to be more like โ door to door wine, cider, figs, chocolate, diary etc โ yum!! #amazingraceau #amazingrace #chillishouse #excitedkids #farmer #hilltribetravels #kidshavingfun #amazingraceaustralia #tasmania #hobart #visittasmania #exploretassie #tassieroadtrip #exploringfamily #goat #chilligoat #tasmaniachocolate #amazingraceaufamilyedition #tasmaniaproduce
Back to our last week in Tassieโฆโฆ A super quick stop off to step back in time to visit the Richmond Bridge. It is the oldest stone span bridge in Australia! Took us a few minutes to try and work out how old the bridge actually is! Richmond was a cool little town. Literally cool! It was freezing! The weather had definitely turned by this part of the trip ๐ฅถ so much so that we were on the phone to the camping site to see if they had cabins available for us......they didn't ๐ #richmondbridge #richmondtasmania #exploretasmania #hilltribetravels #mathsontheroad #travelislearning #visittasmania #tassieroadtrip #familytrip #mylifemyway #makingmemories #richmondtasmania #freespiritedchildhood #holidayswithkids #awesometravelkids #lpkids #familybackpacksdventures #kidsthumbsup #tassiehistory #tassiecold #takethekids #travelwithkids #familytravel
Happiness is...... demolishing a doughnut at the end of a huge walk (for little legs!). The first half of our walk along the river was terrific. The second half up and down along 4wd tracks was a bit of a slog! I kept telling the kids it was all a mental battle. These things are building both physical and mental strength. They can do anything they set their mind too. Have a great week. Filled with positivity ๐๐๐
The little mountain goats off again ๐คฃ at Lederderg Gorge. A slightly last minute decision for a hike today given the ๐ was shining. We made a few rookie errors though ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฒ โ We dressed for 17 degrees in Melbourne only to see the temperature drop to 9 upon arrival. Luckily we had a couple of layers so were ok when we started walking. Apart from my hands. My hands were cold until we got home ๐คท terrible circulation ๐ค๐ค. Silly mistake, I'm always cold โ โ It was a last minute decision to hike somewhere different with no maps or idea of where we were going โ We wasted 30 minutes before we even started the 4.5 hour hike on the wrong path. Turned it into a 5 hour hike ๐ โ We set off too late in the day. We were stressed we'd be walking back in the dark ๐ โ We could see the rain coming across the range and we hadn't packed any rain gear (we made it to the car before the rain) But...we survived. We had water, food, lolly snakes and the doughnuts were waiting back in the car! There is limited information on the hike but we think it was between 11km and 14km. Pretty slow going in parts. Was a good 4.5 hours.... Absolutely exhausted now though. Kids well and truly asleep and I'm not far behind ๐ด๐ฅฑ๐ด๐ฅฑ

It wasn't too scary (maybe just a little!!). The famous Tahune AirWalk is an elevated walkway 30 metres above the forest floor, in the Huon Valley, with the final cantilever section sitting at a height of 50 metres above the Huon River ๐ฎ, you'll find amazing views to both the Huon and Picton Rivers. To reach the start of the AirWalk youโll gradually ascend 104 steps, it's a gradual incline which gives you time to get any nerves under control!!!
Look closely.......would walking out here give you the willies???? #freespiritedchildhood #holidayswithkids #awesometravelkids #familybackpacksdventures #kidsthumbsup #hilltribetravels #takethekids #takeyourkidshiking #takethekidshiking #getoutside #seetasmania #tasmania #tasmaniaroadtrip #takeyourkidsoutside #tahuneairwalk
