I want to share useful travel information, photographs and travel tips based on my personal experience with you.
Besides the center of the city where all of the action is happening, we recommend to go a bit away and explore the neighborhoods around, you will find a lot of hidden gems of local small markets and home cook restaurants with more affordable prices. We enjoyed a lot just strolling the city streets, try their amazing street food, and admire the culture of this side of Peru. You can book a tour with a guide from Arequipa city, most of the hostels and agencies in the city offer it. Another great experience we had in the city was the parades at Plaza De Armas (The main city square), we got lucky and got a taste of the upcoming annual festival.
Mexican cuisine is known all over the world, and we are sure that you have at least one Mexican restaurant in your city. Hearing so much about the delicious spicy Mexican food we couldn’t wait to finally try it. Besides the center, you can also visit the industrial port of the city, observe the big ships, and enjoy a snack from the many street food vendors along the way. In Palenque city itself, there wasn’t much to do, but the chillout vibe, good food, and nice locals made our stay very enjoyable.

We didn’t find Ecuador dangerous, we felt safe walking around and didn’t fell in danger at all. Don’t have a lot of money with you, don’t make phone calls in crowded areas. If you are for example flying to Quito (2850 m) wait a day or two to acclimatize before riding a Teleferiqo (Quito’s cable car) to the heights of 4000 meters. The summit is at 6,263 meters and it’s the farthest point on the Earth’s surface from the Earth’s center.
