Last night we got the worst news we could imagine. 3 days ago Roger (11 y/o lab hound mix) was acting completely fine but 2 days ago he started acting very strange. He was so lethargic that he wouldn’t lift his head when he heard the food being poured or when someone knocked on the door. We took him to the emergency vet friday night and they quickly found out that he has an aggressive cancer, a tumor that was on his spleen. He had been bleeding internally all day. We were given the choice of euthanasia or surgery because he would not have made it through the night without passing away painfully. We couldn’t say goodbye last night so we opted for surgery. It may only buy us a little bit of time with him but we just weren’t ready. We said our goodbyes last night in case he did not make it through surgery but we found out that he made it through. He’s even standing up in his kennel at the vet right now. He also has his own personal nurse. Hopefully we get him back tonight so we can make his last couple of months the best of his life. 2021 has been quite a year and has put everything into perspective.
