You know a trip was good when it makes you fall more in love with who you are and where you come from.⁣ ⁣ This visit to Belize was so identity confirming for me. The people, the places, the culture. I gave birth to Courage in 2019 by way of emergency induction because I felt off.  I knew there was something wrong because I am incredibly in tune with my body, and I was right.⁣ ⁣ Fast forward to late 2020, when I could literally feel my pregnancy falling apart with Glory.  I went to the hospital 3x before giving birth.  I pleaded and prayed that God would keep us and had my entire support system holding me together, and if it weren’t for my doula, fighting with me, I am not sure I would have gotten the emergency induction that I KNEW I needed. ⁣ ⁣ Black women are 3x more likely to die in childbirth because of discrimination, racism, structural inequality, access and quality of care, and lack of resources. Sometimes doctors are doing all they can, but ultimately, we know our bodies and our babies best. ⁣ @BabyDoveCare is committed to ensuring Black Moms can always expect the care they deserve. When I came into this year, I sat down to set goals and couldn’t really come up with anything, and then God said, “expansion doesn’t always mean addition, sometimes it means multiplication.” ⁣ In our quiet times, He started to remind me of things I had started but never finished, goals I had set, but never pursued… and He told me to go to the table, sit down and write down everything I left undone.⁣ ⁣ He told me to go back and see what I left on the table that I could pick up again, and to see where that would take me. ⁣ ⁣ That is part of the reason why I decided to come back to this conference @wppievents that started everything for me. ⁣ ⁣ It was something I left on the table undone. You’ve heard me say before that I’m not a fashion girly, but I love how clothes have the ability to transform you, tell a story, and speak with no words.⁣ These clothes have helped me find my confidence. 😍 ⁣ This week, I am in Vegas returning home to a different part of myself, Tash, “the photographer.” I’ve been shooting nearly every day for the last 16 years.
