Secret beaches, salty breezes ————— Nothing beats lying in a hammock after a good meal, wind blowing in your hair, waves crashing underneath you. This place was a hidden gem. My friends and I journeyed to secret beach in Koh Phangan expecting nothing, and found a slice of heaven! The restaurant is called Koh Rahman, and albeit a little expensive, the views made up for it tenfold! ————— Sadly the waves were quite rough so we didn’t go snorkelling off the side of the restaurant... do it!! Anticipation ————— I just finished packing, and I’ve got a few more things to buy before I’m officially ready for Europe! I’m so excited to be back, last year I only managed to go for a week and that was during my aunt’s wedding so as you can imagine, not much down time. Fresh Air ————— As you can see, Hong Kong was a little foggy, but a hike all the way up to Victoria Peak was exactly what I needed. To be fair, not every single day in HK was foggy, just this morning! Seeing the iconic skyline was incredible, and it made the 45 min uphill battle to the viewpoint very much worth it. Goals ————— There’s something so sobering about being done with my degree (hopefully), I think it’s the fact that I don’t have that security blanket to fall back on when it comes to my goals and plans. Back then, worst case scenario, I could say ‘I’m still studying, can’t take this risk, can’t do that’ etc. But now, I can take risks, I can make plans, I can work towards my goals! It’s both scary and freeing at the same time! ————— The first goal that I’m trying to achieve is a short term goal, I’ve started a YouTube series called The Summer Diaries, and I’ll be trying to upload a vlog from every single day of this summer. Relief ————— It’s about time. My exams are over (minus one presentation), and I can’t actually believe that I’m free! Instinct ————— I had my first exam today! It went okay, I had this gut feeling that something would come up, but I didn’t pay enough attention to it, and it came up, and I had only skimmed my notes 😒 ————— Sometimes you have to listen to that gut feeling, your instincts. Guilt ————— Apart from the obvious uni work bogging me down and preventing me from being so active on social media, there’s actually another reason too. I’m feeling guilty. Being so busy, I’ve had to prioritise certain things, and sacrifice certain things. My priorities obviously include my studies, my relationship, my family, and when time permits, my friends. But this also means that my sacrifices include my gym time, my ability to eat healthy food (I usually have to just grab whatever is convenient), my sleep, and lastly... my attempt at an ethical lifestyle. ————— Now I’m not saying I’ve completely abandoned my plight, or that it’s impossible to do for someone who is studying and wanting to be ethical. I’m just saying, that personally I’ve found it very difficult. My mind is filled with all my work, that often I forget the simple things that I usually do. So really, I haven’t felt like I could preach an ethical lifestyle if I wasn’t really living one. Things have died down a little bit now, so I am definitely starting to focus on it more, and that means I’ll be a little bit more active here (so you can stop unfollowing me now.) #throwback to when I was semi-carefree! ————— Recently I’ve been hit with an overwhelming sense of urgency. Deadlines are looming, exams follow soon after. It’s taken a toll on both my body, and my mind. Thankfully, before all this started, my dad very kindly booked me on a flight to visit my family in Bali for Easter. This was before I knew how busy I would be, so when the time came, I panicked a little! ————— Luckily, it’s been just what I needed. Taking myself away from uni, and from Malaysia has lifted a little bit of the weight off my shoulders. It’s allowed me to be able to do my work with more efficiency, and without so much of the underlying pressure that being in a stressful environment gives. As always, I’ve had a busy week, but this one has been particularly challenging. Coming back from an amazing weekend in Hong Kong, I was thrust in to the depths of my coursework, and it won’t be stopping anytime soon. With good, there is bad, and I am grateful for both. ————— The bad teaches me to appreciate the good, and the good gives me an escape from the bad. I hope for much more good in my life, but I will accept the bad moments as they come whilst waiting for the good ones to come rolling back round again. My friend told me earlier this week, changing your perspective on life is hard, but it can be triggered really easily. Instead of saying you ‘have to’ do something, try instead saying you ‘get to’ do something. ————— I have to say, it’s not an immediate solution, but it helps shift things a bit, helps find some semblance of positivity through your suffering. Spontaneity ————— I’ve mentioned before that I like to plan things, I like being organised, and I like going through all potential scenarios. When I found myself booking a last minute flight last Wednesday, I felt both panic and excitement. I can be spontaneous, I have been spontaneous, but I’m never THAT spontaneous!
