I found these cool plastic Easter eggs on sale for $0.99 at Michaels craft store Tuesday night, and knew they would make perfect egg shakers. Then I decided to make things a little more interesting, so we used colored rice, quinoa, pinto beans, and black beans to fill the remaining eggs. There are many structured ways to use egg shakers: you can have children shake their eggs to the beat of a song, talk about how different fillings in the eggs make different noises, have one child shake their egg and ask the other children to try to walk to the beat of the egg shaker… If you make fancy clear shakers like us, you can even talk about how static electricity makes some of the fillings (quinoa in particular) stick to the inside walls of the shaker!
Celebrate Women’s History Month as we learn about Asian Pacific American female athletes who are changing the game today from author Mia Wenjen. Since March is Women’s History Month, I wanted to share a few of the athletes that didn’t make it into my Kickstarter book, CHANGING THE GAME: ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN FEMALE ATHLETES. Victoria Manalo Draves (Filipino & European American), a diver, is the first woman to win two Gold Medals in both springboard and platform in the same Olympics games, the first Asian-American to medal at an Olympics game, and the first Filipino to win a Gold Medal. Naomi Osaka ( & Haitian) is the first female Asian player to hold the number one ranking by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).
This year, PG&E is transitioning eligible customers to a Time-of-Use (Peak Pricing 4-9 p.m. Every Day) residential electric rate plan where WHEN you use electricity matters. On this Time-of-Use rate plan, electricity prices are lower for 19 hours a day during non-peak hours, when renewable energy sources (like solar and wind power) are more readily available. As part of a multi-year, statewide effort to create a cleaner energy future for California, PG&E will move approximately 2.5 million eligible customers to a Time-of-Use (Peak Pricing 4-9 p.m. Every Day) rate plan. By following the PG&E Time-of-Use rate plan, California residents increase the state’s use of clean energy, creating a healthier environment for everyone.
One really exciting thing happened in February: I got print copies of the Question a Day Journal for Kids that I wrote last year! I incorporated my sanity habits of swimming every weekday in February, and played some sort of music and crafted a little bit nearly every day also. so I’m keeping my March goals simple – and very similar to my February goals! Maintain what I feel like are “sanity habits”: swimming or walking every day, crafting every day, and making time for some sort of music every day.
