My son Eli ("elevated" & "defender of man"), has a numerology of 8 which happens to be his favourite number. He is obsessed with 🦕🦖and corrects me if I pronounce them "wrong". He has a speech delay but happily sings his favorite Moana song on repeat. His excitement is infectious, his memory is incredible, and he is a loving soul to his core. Pisces ☀️, ↗️ Aries and Aquarius 🌑 so he has a lot of big and 🔥 emotions. He's one of the most intuitive little souls I've ever known and I love pulling affirmation cards with him. He can't stand tags, strings, or the majority of fabrics, so almost every morning meltdowns are the unfortunate norm. Certain words can trigger him without us realizing what those words are until we are knee deep in a meltdown, but each day we try our best. The older he gets the more restless his sleep begins and now I know for sure, there's a reason bigger than his sleep apnea diagnosis. Eli's highs are high and his lows can be extremely low, it's a rollercoaster but we will forever be along on this ride. Eli is autistic and beautiful, caring and my whole world. Being his mama has proved my intuition is powerful. Friday was filled with a lot of emotions and I've shed a lot of tears. Not because I love him any less, not because I feel sorry for him, not because "why" but because I never want him to experience discrimination for his beautiful and intricate mind. I never want him to feel less than or excluded. If you ever wave or say hi to Eli and he's reserved, know he's trying his best. If you ever see us looking drained, exhausted, and mentally tapped out it's because every day we have bigger trenches to navigate vs neurotypical parents. Yet, we wouldn't change a thing about him but we would change social norms/expectations. I've contemplated my purpose career wise for a while and I'm leaning towards pausing this rebrand. Returning to sleep education and highlighting autism and sleep. Unexpected Baby Moon🌙 I'm reflecting on this moment captured in 2019, so many emotions.✨ I was embarking on a travel adventure and the beginning of a beautiful, and wild journey into motherhood. 🩵 In 2019 we booked another trip to Greece. We wanted to make sure we had another chance to visit before expanding our family. Our trip was scheduled for the end of August and overlapped with our wedding anniversary, we couldn't wait to explore Crete. 🇬🇷 It just so happens that prior to leaving I had 2 pink lines on a pregnancy test, which came 1-2 months after an early miscarriage. 🤍 I was thrilled, scared, excited, but also realized I couldn't enjoy wine with dinner or pina coladas. 😂 During my 1st trimester, every experience was amplified - from the stunning landscapes that left me in awe to the ocean waves that thankfully didn't end up with me losing my lunch. I made it on a boat without getting sick, for those who know about 1st trimester yuck, you know it's a big deal. 🤣 Exploring the winding streets, I found pretty blue doors, and daydreamed what was to come, I felt an inner peace while on this vacation. ☀️ Upon arriving to our first hotel we took a photo we would later use for our pregnancy announcement (swipe). Basically Eli's "first" travel was Greece, while he grew and we hit the 12 week mark. From day one I knew this baby would be a boy and this trip confirmed my intuition was right! Greece has a very special place in our hearts, this is one of the reasons. 🌈 To say I'm emotional at the thought of bringing both my babies who are now toddlers to Greece is an understatement. Toddler Travel Hacks: Flying Edition ✈️ Follow @serenitydreamtravels to make your family vacation more enjoyable, seamless, and help you stress-less. Toddlers are often their best during the first half of the day. Usually parents find kids to be in better spirits in the morning vs. the last few hours before bed. We find flying in the morning most ideal. If the flight overlaps with nap time it's even better, we'd rather them nap on the flight vs trying to nap while navigating security/baggage. Toddlers want to be involved, a great way to incorporate your toddler is letting them pick their bag and pack it themselves (add items to your carry on you know are needed). Waiting to board the original flight or dealing with lay overs can feel daunting, especially if your flight is 2-4 hours or more. Have your toddler burn energy. Let them walk in the airport, let them run, bring them to a play area if the airport has one! Go on the escalator with them 500 times. Don't worry about other peoples opinions because burning energy pre flight will save your toddler from wanting to burn their energy ON the flight. Don't have an agenda for yourself, seriously. If you plan to read a book, bring it but don't plan on reading it unless your child is napping. When we focus our attention on them, filling their love cup, we have a much smoother flight! Stickers have literally saved us because they can be used in many different ways. Stick them to each other, stick them on mom/dad or their backpack. We play find it "can you find a sticker that has red". A blank book has done wonders, they pick stickers and place them anywhere they want. Have fun!
