Supporting our Colorado designers
We’ve all found ourselves staring disappointedly at our closet of (too many) clothes, exasperated by the utter lack of things to wear. Before attending the event, I was unaware the designers were only in middle school and high school. The contestants were critiqued based on categories such as functionality and innovation, winning titles that included crowd favorite and best overall. The winning designer, Ara Davis, quite literally hit the bull’s eye in terms of balancing function and creativity.
We are so excited to announce that Fashion Denver’s Fashion Camp is on the roster for activities during 303 Magazine’s Denver Fashion Week! If you haven’t registered yet, we have 6 spots open for the March 23rd fashion camp where we’ll be making a swimsuit coverup, beach bag, and pops of color accessories! Also, Portrait and lifestyle photographer Kristin Christian will be capturing the day’s events while model and fashion show producer Tennisia Littleton will be showing the kiddos how to walk and pose on the runway! Besides our fashion camp for your young fashionistas, Denver Fashion Week is hosting the 2nd annual Children & Teen Fashion Show! ! !
A swimsuit cover up, a beach bag and pops of color of accessories are on the Fashion Camp menu for the day! They’ll learn how to walk the runway, get their hair and makeup done, and strut their spring break self down the runway! To stay in sync with our recycle and upcycle theme, we’ll be making parts of the spring break outfit out of recycled materials. For this camp, most materials will be provided but if you can, can you please bring: 1-2 old t-shirts that you no longer wear?
Expect vibrant collections from streetwear brands like AldoElCreator and Electric Bubblegum or elegant garments from designers like Kaitlyn Thomas, Rachel Marie Hurst or Mona Lucero. The Marketplace is a great new way to shop local designer’s work,” said Mona Lucero, a DFW designer. Participation is free for Denver Fashion Week designers, but any independent local designers or boutique can sign-up to participate here. *Subject to change and will be updated as designers and boutiques are added* When: April 7, 2019 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets: $10 can be purchased here
