I’m SO happy I was able to attend the viewing of both of these amazing new spots!  The Y2K popup bar in Decades makes me SO HAPPY. Lisa frank wall art, neon signs, cds for coasters, cocktails with sour patch kids in them…WHAT IS BETTER

The IG-hubs and I booked this Charles Town, WV “Historic Maison du Soleil Retreat” through Airbnb, and it was yet another solid B&B choice (see links to others below). This B&B was such a unique space to call home for the night, with surrounding tiny towns to explore, and very kind and accommodating hosts (attentive, with quick responses..v handy when you forget to take your key with you, woops). The space: a “beautifully restored estate, circa 1890 French Provincial style home sited on 2 acres with fountains, Zen garden, old barn with hammocks, jacuzzi, sauna“. After you have explored the tiny Charles Town, head over to Harper’s Ferry, just a short 15 minute drive (unless you’re me and then you will get lost and drive over the same bridge 10 times, cracking jokes like “honey, loooook it’s the river! ).

There are so many great things about it: there aren’t too many people (people are so annoying); Georgetown adventures are an easy walk across the Key Bridge; free outdoor movies play in Gateway Park in the summer; new restaurants are cropping up all of the time, along with gorgeous new buildings, from luxury apartments to this photogenic Rosslyn Observation Deck at CEB Tower. They really did an excellent job with this beautiful structure…windows for days, views on views, interactive exhibits, a professional camera photo op via a smartphone app, and a cafe & bar for ample viewing pleasure. It’s definitely worth a visit, and if you want to grab dinner with a view afterwards, try my “super secret spot”, the Vantage Point Restaurant at the Holiday Inn Rosslyn. It is a hotel, so it’s not really about the food ha (although, the pasta dishes are great! ), but the restaurant is always peaceful and boasts quite amazing views of the surrounding area, river and Key Bridge into Georgetown.
