My Sentimental Heart: a fashion and lifestyle blog devoted to all the things I love in life. Best enjoyed with a piping hot cup of tea and a slice (or two!) of cake. http://somehow-someday.blogspot.com
There’s something really reassuring about making it out of the winter and in to the new season, and with everything blooming back into life at the moment, it’s wonderful to stop and appreciate the little things which instantly boost your mood. With a long Easter weekend on the horizon, I’m really looking forward to some much-needed extra sleep, some serious self-care and life admin, as well as hopefully being able to get out and about a little bit too. With the spirit of spring renewal very much in mind, I’m also really looking forward to having a good declutter of my wardrobe, and finally making some space for some fresh favourites- one of which is just perfect for this time of the year: It’s perfect for the changeable weather at this time of the year, and I’m really pleased with it so far- especially as sizing up has made it easy to style with some of my favourite knits.
After my wonderful facial at my local Luminis Salon a little while ago, I’ve been investigating some fresh skincare favourites, aimed at injecting a bit of a boost into my post-winter routine. A new discovery, which came highly recommend was the Elemis Superfood Berry Boost Mask, designed to revitalise and boost just in time for the arrival of the sunshine: Formulated with Brazilian Purple Clay, the active ingredients in this formulation help to draw out impurities whilst gently exfoliating, leaving skin smooth and hydrated. As well as being both Vegan and cruelty free, the superberry complex delivers some serious long-lasting benefits, and since I started using it once a week I’ve noticed a real improvement to the overall appearance of my skin. As well as that, it’s gentle and nourishing enough to use without fear of flare ups- with purifying black tea extract and flax seed oil adding the perfect balance of caring ingredients.
It's been more than a little while since my last foodie themed post on these pages, but, if I'm being brutally honest, things have been so busy over recent weeks that I haven't really had all that much time to divert from the norm in terms of go-to eats. In the almost three years that we've been arranging our weekly catch ups, we'd never explored this picturesque corner of London- or any of the amazing shops and eateries situating along its streets. As an introduction to the area, we opted to head to Redemption Roasters: With a queue snaking back to the door, we knew we were on to a good thing from the get go, and it was lovely to have a break from the norm. The great thing about Redemption Roasters too is that they support and work with young offenders, with roasteries and barista training centres across the country, fulfilling a crucial role in helping people to get back on their feet and reducing rates of reoffending at the same time.
Now that the clocks have shifted forward and the evenings are getting lighter and lighter by the day (and with the added bonus of a long Bank Holiday weekend on the horizon), it feels like most of the stresses of winter are well behind us, and I am feeling pretty motivated by this most optimistic of seasons. That sense of feeling lighter about things is slowly but surely permeating its way into my wardrobe too, and over the last few weeks I’ve found myself parking a lot of my usual go-to winter pieces in favour of some fresh favourites for spring: This jumper from H&M is a piece which I’ve had for a fair few years now, but it’s brilliant for this time of the year, especially as it’s still super cosy and the colour is the perfect hue of spring blue. It’s a little bit more of a statement style than my usual pieces, but since snapping it up in store post-payday, I’ve worn it on average about twice a week, so it’s undoubtedly proving to be money well spent, and the perfect piece for this time of the year.
