Well, when you’ve been in labor for hours & are experiencing excruciating pain, the last thing you care about is other people’s opinion & what they think “real” child birth is like. Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, let’s get to what this post is all about, everything you need to know about getting an epidural. The needle felt really thick (please don’t google epidural needle! ) & very uncomfortable to me. After a while the effects of the epidural may start fading away which is why you’ll be given a little button you can push once the epidural starts wearing off so that you can get more into your tube.
(In that case read my 9 Proven Tips to Help You Induce Labor Naturally post) As a mommy to 2 little boys, I’ve learned a thing or two about how this week goes & I’m here to share my survival guide for the last week of pregnancy. If you’re going to have a birth plan, get it together Make sure to know what will be on your birth plan by the last week of pregnancy. *If you want to have a birth plan but don’t know how to make one, make sure to print out my FREE Birth Plan Template Make sure to have yours, hubby’s, baby’s, & other children’s, (if you have any) bags packed & ready for when the moment arrives.
As a mother to 2 little boys, I can’t remember the number of times I would struggle to fall asleep making sure that my baby was still breathing. I had heard so much about SIDS & how some babies died in their sleep & I was terrified. I specifically put this in the number one spot because I think it’s so important to make sure you do this. The best thing you can do is stay on top of baby’s health & the best way to do that is by going to all well child visits to make sure that baby’s developing the way that they’re supposed to.
During that time your body goes through so much that it’s easy to think that you can easily go back back to living the life you had before giving birth. The reality is that there are still some things you should not do after giving birth at least for the first few days & maybe even weeks as your body is trying to get back to what it used to be 9 months before. The first time around I was actually scared that something would happen to my baby while I slept so I just wouldn’t sleep. I’m actually saying this from experience as I was too lazy to keep up with my birth control pills & didn’t want to get any other type of birth control in my system.
