In my previous article we explored the kids clubs onboard, this time we look around P&O and Princess cruises ships where you will find other family friendly activities. On Princess’s larger ships you can find ‘gym’ equipment all the way around the top deck which was a fun way to keep my children active. During the school holiday cruises P&O bring onboard quality family entertainers which have their own show times throughout the day or early evening. Some activities and facilities do vary between ships and if you travel outside of the school holidays you may find less organised entertainment due to the smaller number of children onboard.
There are plenty of excursions to choose from mostly visiting the beautiful waterfalls and botanical gardens. On our first visit we chose to visit the Emerald waterfall which also included taking us to see the botanical gardens and the famous squashed school bus. The gardens are beautiful and easy to walk around and on our second visit we walked there from the ship. In summary Dominica has an easy DIY trip where you can walk to the Botanical gardens through the town and climb the trail or you can get a taxi or organised excursion to visit the waterfalls.
This article will explore P&O and Princess cruise ship kids club facilities for families. A planned activities itinerary is given to you on the first day so you can plan when you would like to visit – making sure you don’t miss out on a special event for example. On Princess you have to pay after 10pm but with P&O they open until 11pm or 12 on school holiday cruises with no charge. Top Tip – make sure you sign up for this activity in the kids club on the first day as it is a popular one and can get filled up quickly.
