My page “Use Your Voice” will remain on my blog for the foreseeable future and I highly encourage you all to look at it and take your time to go through and do whatever you can to help our black friends and family live a fair and just life that so many of us are already privileged to have. Although Florida was a good experience and I met and hung out with some of the best people ever, I had to pack away and donate a lot of the things that reminded me of living there because I would get so frustrated and upset when I saw them had I been able to afford it, gotten out of a toxic living situation, and had more time to be on my own to sort things through. Being in self-isolation from the ongoing pandemic, major body image issues, working a ton, worrying about my fall semester classes, trying to figure out my financial future, and feeling useless in the efforts to help the current civil justice movement, I haven’t

But I know that we are all in different places in life and we aren’t the same people we knew back in high school. I have also learned that some of them haven’t changed at all from when I knew them in high school and that is a little frightening. Or they make an effort to learn and understand their mistake and apologize and usually aren’t reciprocated with the same change of heart from everyone else. We all have room to grow and learn from our mistakes and make changes in our lives whether you are a grocer just trying to get by (especially in these crazy times.

In November, I started an audiobook version of Little Women that I would listen to commuting to, from and between jobs, but I couldn’t stand the voice so now I just need to find my kindle so I can finish it The Hazel Wood is a fictional book about a teen, Alice, and her mother who are haunted by bad luck and, further on in the story, by the fairy tales that were thought to just be fairy tales created by Alice’s grandmother. The way I describe it is that it’s like Big Bang Theory except there is no annoying laugh track and the jokes make sense (as opposed to the mixed-up and ill-placed pop culture references that don’t make sense).
