Over the past two months while under quarantine, Stairway boys utilized their time to learn about photography under the tutelage of Alessandro Brasile, a photographer and performer. During the photo sessions, the children were invited to explore their favorite places around Stairway. Join the children on an exciting photographic journey of exploration and discovery!

Since 2018, Stairway has partnered with schools in Puerto Galera to celebrate World Oceans Day as a way to bring students near the fascinating beauty and bounty of the oceans as well as to raise awareness and promote action about the effects of plastic pollution and global warming of our oceans. During the community quarantine due to the current coronavirus pandemic, beaches around Puerto Galera have become cleaner and more pristine, allowing nature to flourish. As we emerge from the quarantine and return to our everyday activities, let us remember to care and protect the environment. ’s World Oceans Day with a 360 tour of our coastal environment and contemplate how we will continuously spread, pursue our calls, and take action– online and offline—for sustainable tourism, sustainable fishing, and marine protection.

In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), Stairway Foundation has reprinted a new edition of the I Am a Child children ’s rights storybook. Beautifully illustrated by children and youth in Stairway’s programs, I am a Child will surely delight and inspire children and adults alike to uphold children ’s rights everywhere in the world.

Over the first half of the year, Stairway’s farm team harvested more than a ton of vegetables, fruits and organic vermicast. ’s exposure and visit to an established organic farm school in the South ofMindoro last December inspired the team to carry out enhancements and add more elements to the farm, like: • Re-plotting of the Greenhouses, from 2 plots to 3 plots inside to maximize the space. Students undergo an introductory session, including a tour around the farm, before they put into practice what they learned at a portion of Stairway’s land near the school. Other cause-oriented groups, like the EcoTone foundation based in Abra De Ilog, Occidental Mindoro and Reaching Hands Foundation in the Province of Rizal, have visited the farm to gain inspiration, learn about organic farming and explore the possibility of creating similar organic farm projects in their areas.
